  • Malignaggi: "Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter in the history of boxing"

When asked by Fightfan.com's Ace Freeman his opinion on the fight this Saturday, this is what Paulie Malignaggi said.

“Floyd Mayweather (will win). I have a lot of respect for Oscar De La Hoya and think he’s accomplished a lot, but I think – and you can quote me on this – Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter in the history of boxing. I think he’s better than Ray Robinson and anyone else anybody wants to mention. He’s going to beat Oscar De La Hoya because he always finds a way to win and always makes the adjustments.”

Well Malignaggi saying that Floyd is greater that Ray Robinson alone is ******, so his opinion means nothing. Floyd has not fought elite competition on a cinsistant basis to be considered the best fighter in history.

everybody has his opion on things

for me i cant judge because i never seen Ray Robinsons full fight

but Mayweather is pretty much on of best out there in his era.

I think in an interview Mayweather send that you cant compare his era to other eras of boxing because some time you step up the competition or sometimes the competition does not appear what it is too be.

but as a boxing fan just wanna see some good entertian show as well as education for my self if i going to amateurs

Sugar Ray Robinson fought all types of opponents almost on a weekly basis. How can a great fighter of today be greater than one of the greatest fighters of that era of boxing.

well his other oppenet fought on weekly basis too. so the disadvantage there goes away.

As for this era advantge of 4 fight per year there opponent also have the same prepartion time.

The gloves are different and many other stuff so it really hard to compare

Even if Floyd KO'd Oscar in 30 seconds, he still wouldn't come close to being the best ever. Some just have no common sense.

With all respect, Malignaggi has a lot more credability on the subject of boxing than any of us.

so how about Paulie trying out Floyd, we'll see who's the slicker fighter.

With all respect, Malignagni's ridiculous statements indicate a few too many blows to the head.
