Not unless he completely dominates De La Hoya in an offensive fashion. If the public perceives he ran the whole fight and then he finally landed a shot that DLH felt was good enough to quit on he wont become the next PPV star.

Or if it becomes another swimming lesson. You gotta remember B-Hop already stopped Oscar and he still didnt become a PPV star.

But certainly stranger things have happened in boxing than would be the case here. I could see a potiental stoppage if an already outclassed De La Hoya, is just getting beat up on with blistering combination by Mayweather in the late rounds. (Of course his hands have to hold up)

Would I be surprised if that happened?
          Sure, a little.

          Would I be absolutely shocked?
          Definitely not.

I really really have a strong feelings you're going to see Floyd put on the performance of his career on May 5th. I really do.
If i can make a bold prediction, i think Mayweather stops DLH in the 11th or 12, after a pretty sustained beating.

I did some hardcore studying of the numbers, which isnt always the best way to go, but i tried it out cause i never had punchstat numbers this easily available to me.

But if Vargas really opened up with powershots and couldnt budge DLH, then Mayweather has absolutely no chance of rocking oscar. i dont think floyd will ever really hurt or drop oscar, more of oscar getting stopped on his feet

But the stats also show that nobody lands more then 10 power shots a round on floyd, even the quick fisted zab judah, and zab also used a very good jab to no avail after mayweather figured it out

So i think Mayweather will avoid DLH shots, and counter effectively and use his great straight right hand for the first 4 or 5 rounds. Really soften DLH up for the stoppage.

Then in the 8th or 9th, DLH will start retreating more often. And then by the 11th or 12th, Mayweather will have DLH very tired and softened up, and he'll get DLH on the ropes and open up on him and stop the fight.

          Thats what i see happening

If he steps away from the game as he says he will it won't matter. If he steps away for a little while he won't reach DLH's level of stardom.

                  No, he will not be.

He puts up decent numbers now in the 300k range, maybe it'll improve to an extent, but he'll never be up there with DLH.

I might be the first floyd fan who loves oscar too. Both of these fighters are great, and to be honest while I think floyd will easily beat oscar, i also would'nt mind either of them getting the W, im a fan of both, but more of a fan of floyd, i also like oscar because he also chose to fight the best always, whether he won or lost is debatable because i had whitaker, quartey, sturm beating him, and he lost to mosley and hopkins, nevertheless he should'nt be fightin hopkins as he was a beast, i have respect for him as he always chose to fight the best.

I think Floyd could be a PPV star, but most of the new fans he picks up will be people watching in hopes that he loses...
