Is DeLaHoya the best of our generation?

Great article on ESPN boxing. Definitly take a look at the piece and agree or dissagree I do give DLH mad props for taking this fight. He has no reason to take it (he has enough money) other than wanting to fight the best.

I have always respected DLH because he's been a class guy and never ducked anyone. You can say what you want about him fighting guys past their prime but he fought, Quartey, Hernandez, Ruelas, Trinidad, Mosley, Vargas, Hopkins and now PBF ALL in their prime. Win or lose, he has to be considered as one of the best if not the best of our time.

He's flashy. He's sassy. He's classy. When Oscar De La Hoya comes out of his corner at the MGM Grand for his 43rd professional fight, he will have solidified his case as the greatest fighter of our generation.

I like DLH, he's definitely one of the best of this generation, but I would give him more props for fighting Winky than a blown up light weight in PBF.

No Floyd's the best of our generation unless DLH beats him. Which won't happen anyway.

DLH is not the best. One of the best? Yes. His last 5 have been questionable.

your just saying that cuz he knocked out your boy vargas, he is definently in the top 5 of this generation. As for money making, yes he is the most popular fighter of this era, even though a faded mike tyson sold more ppv than he did so far. That will most likely change though. I'd have to say other front runners from 2000 to 2007 are mayweather, hopkins, barrera, winky, and depending on what taylor and pacquiao do in the next 3 years, they have a good shot at that title as well. But we cant decide on who is the best of this generation until its over. and all have stopped fighting. Until mayweather loses, if that happens, he is number p4p for a reason and just becaue he doesnt get as much credit as he deserves, hes 1 or 2 of this generation.

This is what I mean when I say he's overrated. Trinidad and Mosley both beat Oscar, and are from the same "generation" as him. How can you even debate him being the best instead of these guys. He is no doubt the most popular, but FAR from the best.

I agree Winky is the harder fight. Winky would rate just below B-Hop in the list of DLH's toughest fights, whereas Mayweather rates between 4 and 6 on that list.
