        111 fights in 17 years of carrer = 6.529 fights a year

can you find 6 decent fights a year??

and name a boxer now days that fights more than 1 or 2 times a year

Maybe it's because they start there pro careers at an early age.

His fight with Rosario was a classic.

A lot of mexican fighters do that.

Id rather have them fight 10 bums a year while they are young, rather then Julio Cesar Chavez who fights only 4 bums a year, even though his bums are a bit more experienced

Good fighters sometimes do that because they have rough beginnings and cant afford to live other than to fight...

In a way, this is this a poor person version of an amateur career. makes sense, right? they need to make a living, and amateur fights dont feed the family....

Ramirez was a damn good fighter anyway.
If you look on a bunch of careers, youll notice way more than just Mexicans do that. I may be wrong, but I think Roberto Duran and Dempsey had simi-similiar careers.

Not really, a lot of fighters have record of "0-0-0", but it's just because boxrec cannot find the information about their fights ; it's like that a lot with fighters from Mexico or Africa. In fact, they can have a lot of fights, but some are not officially recognized by boxrec.

I don't think all of the "0-0-0" guys were bums they found in the streets, some of them are probably some really tough fighters.

Jose Luis Ramirez was a damn good fighter, tough as they come. He was never stopped and fought guys like Rosario, Sweet Pea, JCC, Camacho, Ali.

Even if dont count his first 40 fights he has a hell of a record.

Like the other guy said most these guys start young and do it to put food on the table also. Most likely Ramirez doesnt have an amatuer background.
