When they have local cards here, its promoted in the local papers and stuff. They usually have commercials on cable TV for any upcoming PPV boxing. They have a good amount of boxing on TV, with ESPN's Wednesday Night Fights, Friday Night Fights, The Contender, and here in Texas they have boxing on a Spanish channel here on Fridays too.
I agree with you on Golden Boy Promotions. My instructor said they pay better and treat the fighters better than other big promotions.
One thing they could do is put a few ads in mainstream sport and other mens' magazines, to create public awareness of future fights (unfortunately, boxing magazines are not available on most magazine stands). The promoters could communicate better with the major newspapers (such as USA Today) and news websites (yahoo and CNN, for example) to get better and more positive boxing stories published about the sports biggest stars such as Wlad, Mayweather and Pacquiao. They could advertise future events on the big TV networks. Most importantly, there should be boxing events available on the major TV networks.

Right now, only hardcore boxing fans like us know about fighters and upcoming matches, but the promoters need to use the mainstream media to find new fans.
