Well, it's going to be real sad if Pavlik does win, for the fact that his fans don't even post his fights up online. Youtube doesn't count, I'm a boxer collector and like to download high quality vids. And if Pavlik does win, I'd like to have more then just the zertuche fight which is the only real fight I have judged him on.

this is boxer/puncher (pavlik) vs huge puncher (miranda). pavlik is the more skilled fighter. hes ambidextrous (spelling?), he can KO you with either hand, hes got a long accurate jab, his technique is very good, his defense is pretty good, and his chin is sturdy enough. his flaws are his defense frequently slips and as good as his chin is, its not enough to withstand constant bombardment from pantera. he needs to use his jab, counter, and keep his punches short. he cant let miranda overwhelm him.

miranda is one of the hardest hitting MWs in recent memory. on top of that, hes got a killer attitude that makes him want every fight to end in a knockout. his best weapon is his right hand. however, he is a much more flawed fighter than pavlik. his chin is less than average, he has no technique or skill or defense to speak of, hes predictable, his punches are sloppy, and hes a very dirty fighter. his power is his only real weapon, but its a weapon that can easily get him the win in almost any fight. hes pretty much a MW earnie shavers: a one trick pony who looks for the right hand. to win, he needs to charge pavlik before kelly can establish his jab and use his reach and power to keep miranda at bay.

pavlik is the more complete fighter, but the x-factor is miranda's power. its really all he needs to win. problem is, he has nothing to fall back on if his power fails him or is somehow ineffective. pavlik can box, counter, punch, take a punch, and go the distance if needed.

honestly, this fight can go either way. regardless of what the nut-hugging pantera fans say, pavlik can win this one. it goes without saying that i hope pavlik wins. i dont like miranda's pretensious trash talk and unprofessional dirty fighting. but regardless of who i like, my feeling is that miranda will win by KO. ive never seen such a powerful and vicious MW. and i dont think pavlik will be able to handle pantera's pressure and power. i still hope pavlik wins, but i just have a gut feeling that miranda's gonna stop him.

Nice post, but I have to disagree that Miranda is a dirty one trick poney with nothing to fall back on.
He was not able to utilize hiw power against Green since Green went into a survival mode and would not trade. Yet with Miranda's pressure and 'skills' he was able to outbox Green all night long. If he had nothing but power, he would never have dominated the cards against a guy like Eastman (before the stoppage) and Green.
As far as the dirty thing, he is a typical fighter. Neumann just gave him a bad rep in Germany with all those BS deductions. Yea, the headbutt was bull****, but I have seen much worse get warnings. The low blows were all on the beltline, none in the balls.
Other than the Germany fight, Miranda had been deducted one point in his entire career. If he was dirty, we would be seeing many more warnings and deductions.

But I respect your opinions and ability to look past your 'heart' and see the reality of this fight. It's boxing and anything can happen, but IMO I really dont see Miranda having too much trouble handling what Pavlik brings to the table.

Saying Miranda is a crude fighter is a bit of a stretch. Mayorga is a crude fighter. Miranda knows how to jab & setup his right hand. He did that against Eastman, Gibbs, & Green. He gets wild when he exchanges & that's where he needs to be more disciplined. There are so many question marks around Pavlik because he hasn't fought good comp. His best win came against Bronco McKart but McKart is a career Jr. Middle that peaked in the mid to late 90's.

Miranda just hits so hard it looks like.. breaking jaws and knocking everyone out with all that pressure too.

I dont really like him but I'm guessin Miranda by K.O.

any bets on this? I got miranda

im not calling him dirty based on the fight with abraham. from what ive seen not just in the abraham fight but in the eastman fight and green fight, miranda has very little regard for the rules. rabbit punches and subtle low blows are also infractions he is sometimes guilty of. you dont need warnings and point deductions to be dirty. refs dont catch everything.

he didnt outbox green. green didnt throw and pantera did, to a certain extent. it wasnt like miranda started boxing, using his jab, moving around, and throwing feints. he dominated green and eastman because of his pressure. he kept coming forward and kept throwing, which led to a knockout of eastman and a near knockout of green. if miranda has skill, we havent seen it.
