My Thoughts On Pavlik/Miranda

its obvious pavlik is one of my boys and my distain for miranda has not gone unnoticed. but i am in a completely neutral state of mind while typing this.

this is boxer/puncher (pavlik) vs huge puncher (miranda). pavlik is the more skilled fighter. hes ambidextrous (spelling?), he can KO you with either hand, hes got a long accurate jab, his technique is very good, his defense is pretty good, and his chin is sturdy enough. his flaws are his defense frequently slips and as good as his chin is, its not enough to withstand constant bombardment from pantera. he needs to use his jab, counter, and keep his punches short. he cant let miranda overwhelm him.

miranda is one of the hardest hitting MWs in recent memory. on top of that, hes got a killer attitude that makes him want every fight to end in a knockout. his best weapon is his right hand. however, he is a much more flawed fighter than pavlik. his chin is less than average, he has no technique or skill or defense to speak of, hes predictable, his punches are sloppy, and hes a very dirty fighter. his power is his only real weapon, but its a weapon that can easily get him the win in almost any fight. hes pretty much a MW earnie shavers: a one trick pony who looks for the right hand. to win, he needs to charge pavlik before kelly can establish his jab and use his reach and power to keep miranda at bay.

pavlik is the more complete fighter, but the x-factor is miranda's power. its really all he needs to win. problem is, he has nothing to fall back on if his power fails him or is somehow ineffective. pavlik can box, counter, punch, take a punch, and go the distance if needed.

honestly, this fight can go either way. regardless of what the nut-hugging pantera fans say, pavlik can win this one. it goes without saying that i hope pavlik wins. i dont like miranda's pretensious trash talk and unprofessional dirty fighting. but regardless of who i like, my feeling is that miranda will win by KO. ive never seen such a powerful and vicious MW. and i dont think pavlik will be able to handle pantera's pressure and power. i still hope pavlik wins, but i just have a gut feeling that miranda's gonna stop him.

If you went by who had better competition then Miranda wins that category. And he has had less fighting experience in the professional ring.

I'm not saying he's a defensive master but compared to Miranda I wouldn't count his defense as a weakness. I've seen like maybe 5 of his fights and the only one I saw him get hit alot was against Zertuchi who doesn't hit hard and so I dont really think he was concerned with defense in that fight. I saw Zertuchi take a vicious amount of punishment in a fight on versus and not get stopped or knocked down so it was impressive that Pavlik was able to stop him.

I pretty much agree with most of your post but I have to admit I've only seen Miranda fight twice. He's strong and powerfull but very crude and so alo tof that can go to waste.

How many black/hispanics are rooting for pavlik in this fight? Btw, I am white. But it just seems that the fans of Pavlik all seem to be white people(I'm assuming and I can't prove it because anyone can say whatever skin color they are) I am white though. And it makes no sense to me to choose a guy who has fought nobodies against Miranda a guy who has fought somebodies... It makes me scratch my head. And yes, even with Zertuche's 4 losses before fight Pavlik, Zertuche is one bad ass and I can see why he gave pavlik problems. Still, Miranda has fought leaps better competition. Pavlik's been in this game called boxing longer. I like Pavlik, I have that zertuche fight, the only fight I have of his since Pavlik's not as popular as some fighters since I can't even get more of his fights online. The only way Pavlik deserves fans if he went into that ring and pulled an upset(since I know he's not predicted to win, the odd probably really are stacked against him betting wise). But with the stinkers he has fought. I can't be a fan of that

this is tough fight for me, cause i like both pavlik and miranda. pavlik is the better boxer but the pantera can change the course of the fight with one punch. i think pavlik will go on to beat a lot of other good middleweights, but i don't think he's winning this fight

zertuche, mckart, and zuniga all had a combined total of 97 fights. and of those 97 fights, none of them were stoppage losses. pavlik was the first guy to stop these guys who had almost 100 fights between them. granted, these guys arent top class fighters, but they are good contenders and were not walkover opponents. yes, miranda fought better competition, but that doesnt mean pavlik has fought nobodies and softies.

If you look at the competition Miranda has definitely fought the best opponents. This should be an exciting fight with both men not really known for there defense. It's hard to pick who would win this fight. I think if Pavlik used his better boxing skills he could win the fight if he stays away from that right hand all evening. Many were predicting that Allen Green was going to outbox Miranda, but he didn't. So I think its going to be hard for Pavlik to do it as well. I think he will deliver his share of shots, but will catch a few right hands from Miranda and it will be all over. I see Miranda by KO in the mid to late rounds.
