Ha, so much for making it simple!

Similar to Mayweather-Castillo I in that even if you felt the right guy won, it wasn't by as much as the scorecards indicated. I go back and forth on this one (though haven't watched in a while since I no longer suffer from insomnia), but usually wind up with scores of either 113-113, or 114-113/114-112 either way.

This pole is a decade late.

But for the record DeLaHoya won it, and by the way, the second DeLaHoya vs Mosley fight should have involved the police, because there was a robbery
        committed that night...

Looks like to me that there seems to be some hypocricy on this thread. Some saying that it wast good for Whitaker "run" the entire figh, probably are still saying that DLH won the Trinidad fight in which he ran himself! Cant have it both ways. Plus i saw the fight again yesterday, and just b/c DLH was throwing punches doesnt mean he won the fight. He missed ALOT! which showed Whitaker's boxing and defensive skills. During the fight DLH threw a 6 punch flurry in which not one of the punches landed. Lampley shouted," And De La Hoya lets his hands go again!" Roy Jones then says, " But none of the punches landed." So whats better? A fighter throwing punches and not landing? or the skiil of not being hit by those punches. Remember judges are suppose to judge on affective aggression(AFFECTIVE!) and ring generalship, which Whitaker had, the whole fight.

Last time i watched it i had it for DLH by a couple of rounds.
I thought eventhough he moissed alot, he was the aggresor and Whitaker simply landed less.
Neither fighter landed many clean shots. And ring generalship isnt just making ur opponent miss, but using the ring to ur advantage. If Whitaker didnt land many shots, how effective was his ring generalship?
Surley the number one thing that matters is punches landed. Then the quality (power) of those punches. Then defensive skills.

I gotta watch it again. IMO DLH threw more, landed more, and missed more. For me thats enough for him to sc**** the win.

I think De La Hoya won it fairly easily, but it was close.

I thought Oscar won a very close but clear UD.

The fact that Pete ran around the last round (giving it away) like he had easily done enough to win the fight was a joke.

Oscar had a tough time with Pernell no doubt about it but he gets way to much flak for this outcome, the fact that some morons refer to this as a robbery is ridiculous and it clearly highlights those individuals as amatuers.

While we're at it let's get the cops to arrest Oscar for his "victory" over Felix Strum.

Sturm, it was a staged fight, a showdown for another staged mega-fight with Hopkins for a unification...

DLH had to win, no matter how terrible he looked.... Sturm's only chance was to knock de la hoya out.

But everyone knows that DLH came in in a horrible - horrible shape.. and looked like **** that night.

Sturm is a great fighter, but I don't think he is on DLH's level... and if we saw DLH that fought Mayorga fighting against Sturm, we would have seen a very sound victory for Oscar.

                      Just my opinion
