Actually Floyd was not that big at that time, it was the Gatti fight that turned PBF into a star.

Respected press are not nut-huggers like the HBO guys can be, so I highly doubt any of the press had PBF winning because he was the bigger name.

gatti fight made him bigger when it came to the casual fight fans, but people who had followed him new who he was, and knew that he was going to be big. remember hernandez, castillo, corrales, chavez and carlos hernandez came before gatti.
look at the heavyweights right now, if an amercan heavyweight has a good fight more is said than if a foreigner has a good showing

The youtube bit in the first post in this thread looks like Castillo is bullying PBF around the ring and is looking more succesful. Ive never had the opportunity to sit down and watch this fight in its entirety. Only bits and pieces on youtube.

I scored it and I gave the fight to Castillo by 2 rounds, 2nd time around was a much wider decision for Mayweather tho.

i gotta give mayweather props knowing it was a close fight he chose to stay inside the pocket chest to chest with castillo the last 2 rounds but mayweather still got outhustled not say that he was dominated in anyway or exposed or anything like that he just lost
and redemeed himself by beating castillo the second time around

as far as the commentators influenceing me or anyone that thinks castillo won defence i dont buy it. maybe for the casual fans but not for me or anyone here that post in the forum or reads the post in this forum. anyone here is a hardcore boxingfan and the commentators will have no bearing on their decision on who they think won a fight. hardcore boxing fans will score fights on what THEY THINK effective aggression,controlling the tempo,or output of punches or accuracy of punches or harder punches.

I thought Floyd looked like **** when I watched the fight, but when I saw the fight again and scored the rounds like a proper judge is supposed to, I saw him eeking out a close decision.

Sure Floyd was an undefeated American prospect, but he was no ODLH or anything like that.
Castillo was also popular because of his big win over Stevie Johnson.
