I have Mayweather and Mosley and 1 and 2. From there down is where it gets interesting. I think Margarito is a good fighter who was overhyped at one time. I mean the most feared fighter thing is nonsense. Thats my only beef with him.

Antonio Diaz, Danny Perez, Andrew Lewis, Sabastian Lujan, Kermit Cintron, Joshua Clottey...that's six legit top ten guys (top ten when he fought them). Some were marginal, others less so. Whether one thinks he is the best or overrated based on aesthetics is one thing; but if fans are to decry mandatory systems and bad ratings, than objevtivity must rule. Six wins against legit contenders makes Tony the most deserving (even if he's not the best fighter to some).
He did well when the division was weak. Now that there are more quality fighters at welterweight, he hasn't fought any of them but Clottey. Clottey is a lower top 10 fighter and he was having his way with Margarito until injuries occurred. Margarito still has a lot to prove, starting with Paul Williams...

i would give him top 5 WW Cintron is improving and he is a different fighter from the guy who was fighting margarito.

I would like to see Saurez vs Margarito two puncher but Saurez should be fighting someone and i think it would be good if he is fighting Callazo or someone

he's top 3 welterweight. others have beaten better comp than him but after he beats williams everyone will have to give him the respect he deserves. next is cotto.

I put him top 3 Floyd Mosley then Tony.Id pick both Floyd and Mosley over him in a fight.I think Tony could beat any other welter but you can make arguments about Paul and Cotto beating him and that would be fair because those could both be very competitive fights.

Mosley has one win against a top ten welter in since 2001. If Marg beats Williams, that's seven top ten guys; if he proceeds to fight and beats Cotto (as contractually obligated), that's eight. What is the magic number one needs to win to be the #1 contender? I'm not saying he's better than Mosley and can understand if some rank Shane above him based on the past (I'd probably pick Shane over Tony), but Marg has done more in the division over the last five years. Tony Diaz, Lewis and Cintron are at least as proven as Collazo and that's 3 fights to one. It's really between Shane (former lineal World champ) and Tony; no one else in the division has done anything close to what they have.

P.S. Floyd doesn't come up because he is THE champ. No need to rank him. He's the man at 47 until defeated.
