The Mayweather / Whitaker comparison

As a fan of Whitaker,i still have to agree with many. He was never humble and was not very popular when he was fighting. Fighting Chavez and really beating him didnt give him a bigger fan club fur sure. However Whitaker fought a higher caliber of opposition then Mayweather, and even past his prime he showed against Tito something Mayweather hasnt. He proved he could take a good punch. We will see if Oscar can test Mayweathers chin.Comment

Who has Mayweather ducked? Margarito? Yeh he beat Manuel Gomez so he deserves a shot at the P4P king? Ricky Hatton? Hatton has turned him down 3 times saying he needs a couple more fights, the only case u can have is he didnt fight Mosley, but i can also say Mosley didnt fight MayweatherComment

How do you know? See here is the thing, the only known duck that Mayweather has is Margarito and its so questionable and so circumstantial that its hardly a an after thought. But because of the internet, press releases, videos etc we have access to know who is claling out who. but back in the day it wasnt like this. For everyone Margarito for Mayweather, there is a Hatton. Whitaker was able to fight everybody there was also because there was alot more people getting into the ring with him who were alot more willing.
The bottom line is, any Paper champ (margarito) can call out anyone they want and if it gets enough attention people will care, but the problem is you guys dont really understand that back in the day there were no boxing websites, no streams to videos, no rumours in training camp, up to the minute injury updates etc.
I never thought id see the day when people would talk about how humble whitaker was, or how they loved how he fought everyone etc when some of you same people hate PBF for the very reasons whitaker was hated in his heyday and i garuntee you some of you would be on here righ tnow, berating Whitaker on any little thing you could because he ran his mouth, showboated in the ring, tried to humiliate you by dancing and shuckin and jivin and ****. Mayweather doesnt even do that in the ring and im really questioning how much some of you really know about whitaker other than what you have read.Comment

Mayweather took flush shots from Judah and was in a hard fight with Jesus Chavez as well as Jose Luis Castillo. I think hes shown he can get hit and take it. Whitaker got the **** beat out of him by trinidad and he was way past it, if mayweather showing you he can "take a good punch" when hes past his prime against someone whos in their prime in a one sided beating is your idea of proving something, there where were you during the other 30 fights before then?As a fan of Whitaker,i still have to agree with many.
