I think Toney would win it. Byrd is used to being the little man who can move back and forth and slip while bigger guys fall over their size. Toney has very fast hands and has the ability to catch him...repetedly IMO....something Byrd isn't really used to. Toney has excellent footwork and should be able to control the pace and deny Byrd's escape routes, another thing Byrd is not used to.
If any roughing up is to be done, it will be Toney doing it.
    Toney by fairly wide UD.

Toney wins this one, he throws a lot more punches per round than Byrd does, and though Toney is "smaller" - he's actually just shorter, but heavier, Byrd usually weighs around 213, Toney will be at least 225 - Toney is the bigger puncher, and he's also naturally more agressive. It will be somewhat of a chess match, but Toney will outland Byrd because Chris' style is more defensive than offensive, while Toney's roll and counter style will let him throw more punches and still not get hit much. The interesting thing about this fight would be that it'd be the two best defenses in the division matching up against each other. For my money, Toney is the better defender because he doesn't rely on distance the way Byrd does, Toney stands very close and still doesn't get hit with clean shots. Also Toney has the better chin.

good analysis , it willbe more a cruiser fight , and i think toney cant be hurt in that one , and the fact that the size are the same will negate , as you said , byrd defense.
i ll go toney wide UD TOO

It would be a very interesting matchup though, I think Toney would have to change his style a bit, he would need to attack, attack attack, if he waited for Byrd to come to him like he can afford to do with other heavyweights he may find himself down on the cards big or not, if he attacked and smothers Byrd than I think it could be an easy fight, that is if Toney can actually adjust to that style. Remember Byrd is 0-2 in his last two fights, lost to vitali although v gave him a gift, was thrashed by Wlad, was kayoed by Ike, are we overateing Byrd a little bit here, yes he is pugilist and its been amzing to witness what he has accomplished in the division but seriuosly anyone in the top ten can beat him, Im not saying that they all will but he is definately being overated.

....Good points on Byrd. His loses have been clear cut and absolute. Some of his biggest wins have been questionable and his luck is on par with nobody else in the heavyweight division. He either keeps a rabbit's foot in his trunks or he must be part Irish. Skill, King, and alot of luck have made this guy appear better than he is. With that being said I would favor him over the also overated Toney.
