When you say a fighter is overrated or underrated most people don't know what that means. To say a fighter is overrated doesn't mean a fighter isn't any good it just means he hasn't lived up to his expectations.

I believe Cotto is that fighter. He is overrated IMO because everyone talks about him like he's P4P the best in the game and he hasn't beaten the best in his weight class.

Now that's not to say that Cotto won't turn out to be a great fighter, maybe even a legend in the game but all these threads about him are just pointless because we don't know enough about him to call him "great" or not.

this fight with Judah will be a good start. I think his handlers are taking enough of a risk in picking an opponent like Judah but not in his prime, to where they are throwing Cotto in over his head. I look forward to this fight and I hope Cotto wins so we can see the real big fight, Margarito vs Cotto.(if Margarito can get past Williams of course)

I think so... and they want to keep him fighting weak opponents...Cotto needs to fight someone like Shane, Mayweather, Williams, Forrest, Quartey ? ?? ?

I personally would like to see Quartey vs Cotto... I think that would be a good fight.
you call judah washed up and then you have the clout to ****ing name drop forrest and quartey? those guys are used goods...more so than judah.

people demand that cotto fights a dangerous puncher...this match fulfills that demand.

cotto is what he is. a flawed, undefeated young fighter with an entertaining style and a lot of fans. assuming he beats judah, we'll probably see him fight some of those other guys you named (except for quartey and forrest) in the near future.

agree as usual, i dont really have ay doubt that judah would beat both quartey and forrest pretty easily...

judahs problem has always been his focus, or lack thereof... this fight has make or break written all over it and id be surprised with anything less than 100 percent from zab against cotto.... which makes him all the more dangerous than a quartey and especially forrest, who i dont think is very dedicated to the sport any longer....

I think he is on this forum for the amount of people picking Judah to beat him but I've also always felt Judah is overrated.

Well, he is a 2x champ in multiple divisions who holds a KO over a current Jr. Middleweight champ in Spinx. I think the thing with Judah is hes got a world of tallent but has more often then not failed to live up to expectations. And I do believe he'd beat Forest, at least at this stage. Quartey would be tougher, but hes been so inactive as of late and with his age and all, it'd be hard to put to much faith in him.

As for the original question, I dont really think Cotto is so much overrated, hes got technical flaws but his style is such that he overcomes them, and he also does a lot of things well. I wouldnt call him overrated either, and I think he's still improving and his best moments may still be ahead. I'm one who picked Judah to win their fight because I think the style matchup favors Judah, but I wish Cotto the best of luck in that fight, I'm sure he can win but this may be his toughest test yet, potentially.

as soon as cotto meats some really tough solid opponents he will be exposed ...
So than according to that theory Floyd was beating Baldie leftovers in Judah and everyone else that has beaten Judah huh? Floyd had no business figting Judah after his loss to Baldy because the fight didn't mean as much.

Im gonna go for Judah in this fight, but its a pick'em fight for me to be honest.

Judah is supremely quick and whatever anyone says he gave the best p4p fighter in the world his hardest test post castillo 1.

I think if he builds on the jab accompanied by circular movements either way he might be able to avoid cotto's vicious body shots.

In terms of technical skills, judah wins this fight, he's faster to the punch, slick, good head movement, powerful.

                    BUT

Mayweather wore him down with some bad body shots, now if Cotto hits him with his body shots, they shall have to take out Judah's appendix, put it in a doggy bag and let him take it home with him, cos this fight will be over.

                    Pick'em fight.

                    Heart says Judah

                    Head says Cotto.

Im gonna go for a fight which doesnt live up to the hype, Judah close UD.

In Judah's prime, I felt he was a tad overrated also, the supposed Messiah of boxing.

But recently, given Judah's last two losses, I think he's being drastically underrated in this fight.
