De La Hoya-Vargas was not a classic fight, far from it. Yes, everything surrounding the fight contributed to a decent spectacle with a dramatic ending, but that's it from the way I see it.

I'll give you that De La Hoya was more aggressive following the Vargas fight, but he had been pretty much like that from near the beginning of his career, with the exception of the Trinidad bout when he was implored to use his smart boxing and it clearly let him down. Maybe he felt more confident in himself, but I'd say it had little effect on his performances-taking the fight to a significantly smaller man in Mosley was bound to reap it's rewards, especially considering Oscar's boxing abilities. He lost the Hopkins fight by knockout, and he outskilled and outfought a very poor and probably shot Mayorga, who had less than a cat-in-hell's chance.
(Before I begin: Your anaylsis of the Boxing stuff is pathetic.. I cannot address that any further. You have miscategorized Shane Mosley, passed over Oscar's respectable showing with Hopkins, and referred to Mayorga as very poor and shot..." when there was zero indication of that. DLH took him out of the fight almost instantly with that monster shot.. Mayorga was still throwing and landing punches that would have knocked out lesser fighters.. What a ****ing joke..)

Yes, 9000 times in 4 months.

About 6000 of them in MagicJordan's point giveaway thread..

Still a decent number of posts..

But look what I have made of my time here versus yourself..

    You want to talk numbers?..

You are addressing one of the most decorated members of this forum.

My statistics based on the system here are unimaginable..

If I had been here since the time that you began I shudder to think what my numbers would look like.

In several category's I have surpassed every other member in the history of Boxingscene.. And that's not just at a certain pace - categorically achieved already. The other stuff is at record pace..

You on the other hand represent a waste of membership.

    Nothing, zero, zip..

I'm done with this debate. I have already destroyed you.

I just wish it could have been more challenging..

You have exceeded the appropriate levels of annoyance..

    Stay of my ****, thanks.

      LOL.

You may have heard this before, but my life doesn't revolve around Boxingscene. Well done on what you have achieved on this site, I am impressed.

Against Hopkins, he fought well, but he still lost. And when you said taking on Hopkins was a ballsy thing to do- there was a hell of a lot of money involved in that fight. At that time, money was still high on his agenda, despite his vast wealth. Again, he fought well and his aggression helped, but he lost.

Whenever Mosley has been pressed by a bigger man who possesses decent skill at Welterweight and above he has lost, Forrest, Winky, De La Hoya (the second fight.) These tactics clearly work for top-class fighters.

Against Mayorga- De La Hoya has always had a good chin- he soaked up those shots readily and fired back with sharper, more powerful and better technical shots of his own. Despite what you say, I wouldn't lend so much credibility to the Mayorga win.

Done with the debate are you? Ok. I'll take my 'wasted membership' elsewhere, as I'm clearly messing with the king.

            No more "tuneups."

If you cannot comprehend that Boxing is a sport built on lessons, making adjustments, and most of all - human physcology - then you need to go somewhere the **** else.. Period.

            Oscar is a sponge.

You better BELIEVE that Vargas fight affected him more than any other.

Oscar himself has referred to the Vargas victory as his best achievement.. I'll drop potentially.

            There is no doubt.
The first fight that Oscar had after beating Vargas was Yori Boy Campas.

Oscar has always taken a tough fight, then a tune-up/weaker opponent, than a tough one.

If you want, you can argue Mayorga was a big one since he got DLH fired up with his comments, but Mayorga has minimal skills.

Read it again; I said the thing that Oscar learned from fighting Vargas, Mosley, and Hopkins..

Hopkins was almost a year and a half after Campas..

Both things you said about Mayorga are true; Oscar was motivated..
