Why the hell are so many people rooting for and predicting a Chagaev win? Doesn't Valuev have any fans here? I'm predicting a early to mid TKO by Valuev.

It is the psychology of the situation. People are always interested in David vs. Goliath, and they tend to favour David. Personally I think your assessment is probably right. Goliath is odds on to win.

to answer your question honestly...... imo chagaev is very much superior fighter to monte barrett who made it very late into the fight before being stopped... and barrett is not known for his toughness and/or durabilility.

he is also a superior fighter to jameel mccline who was doing very well against valuev injuring himself..no he doesent have jameels size, but he is better at everything else

chagaev also represents the first guy who may actually hit valuev hard enough to get his attention... he certainly has more power than beck/barrett.mccline...

i guess what im getting at here... valuev has never found himself in deep waters in his career and nobody really knows if he is going to sink or swim when it happens (sorry for the corny metaphor) and chagaev for a variety of reasons looks like he may be that guy.

Hitman, for all intents and purposes, I hope that Chagaev pushes Valuev out in deep waters, and throws some adversity at him. And I hope Valuev responds possitively to this and is able to "overcome and conquer" Ruslan. I and many others here are still waiting and hoping for a break out performance by Valuev. I'm optimistic that that will happen Saturday.

It's true that Chagaev punches hard. I've been watching him on YouTube videos, including two that summarize his KO's. He's better than a lot of people think he is.

But Valuev's just too tall. Ruslan won a lot of his fights with punches to the head, that's what he does best, but he'll have trouble reaching Nicolay's head.

It's not about who likes who; it's about what makes sense. And try as he might, Chagaev just ISN"T going to KO Valuev. And barring that, the fight will go to Valuev by either gift decision or premature stoppage a la Cazaghe/Manfredo. Until they can stop fighting in Valuev's back yard, we aren't going to see him get defeated.

I picked Valuev by decision but it's mostly because I don't know anything about Chagaev. The Summer 2007 issue of World Boxing has Chagaev as one of the most underrated fighters in the world. So maybe he has the goods to beat Valuev.Too bad it's not on a major network in the US.

the fight will go the distance and it will be close

i expect valuev to get the benfit of the judges and pull a SD

which is fine with me cause valuev/klitschko is a big money fight.. chagaev/klitschko is just the same as brock/klitschko
