Well most people on this site care. Didn't you watch his last fight? It was on TV in England as well as on HBO over here. He moves very well and has fast hands, and decent power. He's a tough fight for anyone, including Calzaghe.

    I know I know . . . .

Er ... I don't think any of his fights have ever been shown in the UK.

Kessler would be the easiest option out of the many fights mentioned. Apart from RJJ of course - that's just ******.

It wasn't on Sky. Maybe it was on Eurosport?

This Kessler guy has never been on British TV as far as I know.

I think I got it wrong. But quit saying 'that Kessler guy'. I can link you to his fights if you like. And I think he'd knock Froch's block off, not that my expectation should be taken for important.

              impressive...
Hes amassed that record on the way up to have recently become champ. There are lots of boxers who arent champs with unbeaten records like Kessler.
Joe has been champ for 10 years and is 35 and is still unbeaten. Will Kessler be unbeaten by the time he is 35 years old and people trying to take his title off him. It is harder to defend the title than to win it.

Glyn Leach of Boxing Monthly on Joe:

"My take on Joe: statistically, he has been very impressive, winning 19 world-title fights.

"But I cannot get too overexcited about the quality of his opponents, with the exception of Lacy.

"How good Joe is as a fighter is pretty hard to determine.

"Enormous questions still remain because the foundation of his claims are based on pretty flimsy evidence.

"The level of opposition has been modest, whereas if he fought and beat Mikkel Kessler, I’d be far more inclined to say he was up there with the very top boxers we have produced.

"As it is, my post-war top three are Benn, Lennox Lewis and Naseem Hamed, with Ken Buchanan very close by."

                Those were before last night.
Juy Jeffrey, u know i love nigel benn, i think he fought the best competition of any 168 lb champ. he even wanted to rumble with RJJ even though he knew he would lose, that's balls, but i agree with the second guy on calzaghe.

Juy Jeffrey, what do u think a scrap between prime benn and prime calzaghe would look like? i think benn would lose but he'd knock calzaghe down, just like he'd lose to RJJ but i think he could also knock him down

I don't really know what would happen with Benn and Calzaghe. Joe has stated that of everyone, any fighter (ever), the person he would most like to fight would be Nigel... more so than Sugar Ray Leonard and Roy Jones.

I think they'd enjoy a tear-up, a young Calzaghe would take Benn out but this current pitter-handed Calzaghe, hmm, 36 minutes is a long time.

benn was the man... old benn against old calzaghe might go benn's way. if joe breaks his hand, benn would knock him out, the nige was a much harder hitter than robin reid

Well, you can't call someone a bum if you haven't seen them fight. I was skeptical of Kessler, but after seeing his last couple of fights, I can say he's certainly not a bum.

I'm guessing Kessler will be the most avoided fighter from 160-175 now. Besides Calzaghe, I don't see anyone who even wants to mention the guy. And he looked phenomenal live on HBO in his last fight. He looked almost too good for his own good, if you get my drift. But to give credit to Joe, I truly believe he would fight him without any hesitation. I think Joe has always been willing to fight anyone over the years- RJJ, Hopkins, etc. But Warren and the fact that none of those guys he was calling out over the years were too excited about facing him hurt his career.

The become undisputed by defeating Kessler would do wonders for his legacy. None of the other great super-middles could ever unify (Leonard, Jones, Toney, Benn, Eubank, etc etc) and for Joe to do it twice, possibly even twice as the underdog, would certainly make him the greatest super-middle in history, and most likely an all-time great if he can finish his career with another ****, like a top US fighter.

See, defeating Hopkins could go either way- if he dominates Hopkins, then everyone will point to Hopkins' age. If he wins a tough fight with Hopkins, then maybe he gets credit. If he dominates Taylor, everyone will say it's because Taylor moved up and wasn't used to the weight yet. However!! if Wright defeats Hopkins, which I think he will, then THAT is the fight (besides Kessler) that Joe should plead for. Joe is too agressive and active to lose to Wright. It's a nightmare matchup for Wright. And would be an extremely impressive win for his resume, given the success Wright's had over the past few years, and with a Wright win over Hopkins, Joe would essentially be defeating the top-ranked LHW on the planet. Huge. Kessler or Wright is where Joe needs to look.
