Did Joe Calzaghe give the ref a sign to stop the fight? Or did the ref **** Joe?

He wasn't moving his feet to get out. He was just standing there. This wasn't the same as James Toney ducking under a few punches and then getting back into a position to throw or counter. Manfredo just ducked and covered with shots raining on him, whether they were landing clean or not. I'm not saying I agree with the refs decision, but I can see how he might have confused Manfredo's body language.
As i say i am on Joes side but Manfredo should be allowed to go out on his stool so to speak. In boxing matches when the ref think the fighter isnt throwing punches he gives a warning for more action. He should have given Manfredo a warning. To say the ref thought Manfredo was hurt the ref would need to see evidence. Things like rubbery legs and actring like a drunk are the things to look out for. This is boxing and it is a hurting game and you are going to expect to get hurt with top boxers like Joe.

Yes it was stopped too early but there was NO CHANCE manfredo was ever going to win that fight... he just isnt ready for Calzaghe. I cant see Calzaghe losing a fight in his whole career, hes just too good.

You yanks need to stop making excuses and arguing about it, the ref stopping it like that is actually better for manfredo than it was for Calzaghe, at least everyone can bull**** and say that manfredo might have won the fight (we all know thats not true), but Calzaghe won his 20th title defense from a ****ty stoppage, thats alot worse for Calzaghe... EVERYONE knows that Calzaghe was always going to win that fight from the very beginning

And Sugar Ray Leonard is an excuse making ass

No way was Manfredo going to win. But i wanted to see him get beat up a bit more. He is supposed to have an iron chin so i wanted to know how well it would hold up against a top lad like Joe.
