Warren: "Kessler Turns Down Calzaghe Fight"

After Calzaghe's third-round stoppage of Peter Manfredo, Jr., he expressed his desire to unify his WBO/The Ring magazine titles with WBC/WBA champion Mikkel Kessler (39-0, 29 KOs), from Copenhagen, Denmark, as his next fight this summer or travel to the U.S. to take on Jermain Taylor. [details]

    50:50? Heh heh heh.

I must admit to being a bit confused. Didnt Kessler's camp state that money would never be an reason for this fight not happening?

Who is this Kessler guy anyway? Probably just some average European robot.

Calzaghe should go for the American world middleweight champion Taylor in July followed by the winner of Hopkins-Wright, this year, then retire. Then let the likes of Froch, Bute and Kessler battle it out to take the torch.

If Joe Calzaghe went to America and won all the yanks would commit suicide

50:50 for Kessler to bring his belts to JC's backyard, that’s high but not outrageous.

TV deals in Denmark and Germany? Since we get all the German fights for free anyway, it's only Germany paying off. I don't know how much "multi millions" is, and that would be a big issue.

I bet negotiation is needed; it would be surprising if they just went for each others offer.

              BTW.
I must admit to being a bit confused as well.
Didn't you just say it was a date issue and not money in another thread? Why two different reasons from Warren?

                Did they?

Kessler/Palle knows Warren wound offer him less than travel-expenses if he could get away with it. So it would be a damn ****** comment to make. Kessler has a lot at stake as well as Calzaghe. No doubt he'll wan't a fair share.
So i'd really like to see a source for this comment of yours.

So Palle gave two reasons for chickening out. Not my fault.

50-50 is completely outrageous. Calzaghe is the draw, is the #1 man in the division and is P4P top 5. Kessler, to be frank, is simply the #1 contender.

Wherever this fight is, Calzaghe should be getting the lions share. It seems a multi-million pound purse plus the continental european rights for this fight aren't enough to convince Kessler to fight a man he said money would never be a worry to fight.

I'm very disappointed. I thought Kessler wanted to be the man.
