Not that Bobby was doing anything (other than perhaps landing a low blow or two) but the refs on this card acted as if they were double-parked in a tow-away zone. Wasn't much of a stoppage, and certainly not evident of Enzo being worth a damn as far as cruiserweight titlists go

after the first count gunn didn't even bring his hands up...he was practically supporting himself on the ropes whilst nodding he was ok to go on. but seeing as the ref let it continue at that point, he might as well given it the rest of the round or until gunn actually got knocked down again.

this might not give any evidence of macca's standing as a cruiserweight, but given the opponent placed in front of him theres nothing more he could have done.

Anyone impressed, I think he should be looking for Haye or Jean Marc Mormeck next, thoughts?
We'll see how he does when he takes a step up in class and fights the likes of Haye, Mormeck, or Bell.
There is no doubt he is a very good puncher... Powerful and accurate, but we won't really learn nothing from fights with human punch bags like Gunn. Maccarinelli was KO'd early in his career (against Lee Swaby) but he seems to have recovered from that set-back.

I'm just saying, there was nothing spectacular about the stoppage. People made it seem as if this was Pac-Marquez round 1 all over again. The ref would've been more justified stopping it after the knockdown than when he did. Considering the fight ending sequence, he either could've let the last 20 seconds run its course, or at least allow Enzo to score a more spectacular knockout. I mean, the fight ended on a jab! (though the ref started to jump in at the prior right hand). It just made the fight more meaningless than it already was.

Are people actually questioning the stoppage??
Seems to be a trend this weekend.

Gunn was ****ed. If u look at his eyes he was spaced out. The ref was lookin very closly at him. Whats the point of letting it continue?

                    Perfect stoppage.
I just wish Enzo Maccarinelli was a heavyweight.

                      Alright, let me re-phrase then:

The entire card proved to be anti-climactic, especially with some of the bouts ending the way they did.

I don't "question" this stoppage or even Calzaghe-Manfredo - in both fights, the outcome was never in doubt (arguably before the opening bell). But for a night of mismatches, I just wish we could've seen more explosive endings.
