Calzaghe vs Kessler - July 2007

So Frank Warren says. And we know how reliable he is.

Taylor is the one they'll be fighting in July, and then either the winner of Hopkins-Wright or Kessler. I think they want to wait and see if Froch can get a fight with Kessler and beat him, because they could put that (Calzaghe-Froch) on at The City Ground (Notts Forest FC stadium). I know Joe also wants Clinton Woods before he retires to become a two-weight world champion.

Believe me, Kessler is way down the list.

HBO certainly seem to be pushing Kessler a lot in recent weeks, but I agree that Taylor is the one they want for July (although I can't see him fighting twice in 8 weeks). Maybe Warren is using this as a bargaining chip for bigger things.

Kessler-Froch does make a lot of sense, no matter what our resident pastries think.

Except not for Kessler. No money in it, the guy's not a mandatory, and if he beats him Calzaghe's protectors will say Kessler STILL hasn't beaten anyone to entitle him to fight Joe.

They might ANNOUNCE a fight by July, but he certainly wont be fighting then.

If the fight's set for July you can guarantee it won't happen until Ocober.

Froch is among the "best of the rest", but HBO won’t go for newcomer Kessler against unknown Froch (the guy who beat Tatevosyan!)
If they can't make Kessler-Calzaghe, they are most likely to look in the other divisions for a recognizable opponent.

Hm, there is the slight possibility that the potential of an exciting fight could make them look towards a Kessler vs Froch fight.

Don't get me wrong. Even if Froch hasn't fought any high rated fighters yet, I'd still like to see this fight. With Bute out of the picture, he is almost the only guy left at 168 (except JC). There is just no prove of Froch's qualities, only signs..
If Froch lands the fight with Inkin, he would gain a lot of respect. It’s a genuine “big balls” move calling him out.
