Man you guys are sleeping on my boy Vicente Saldivar and Carlos Zarate but here are my top 5:
1- Julio Cesar Chavez; won his first 90 fights, 5 world titles in 3 different weight classes! Nuff said
2- Ricardo "Finito" Lopez; Defended his title a record 22 times. Third champion EVER to retire undefeated. Most consecutive title bouts without losing at 26.
3-Carlos Zarate; won 46 out of his 47 first fights by K.O. Hardest hitting bantamweight of all time, out of his 61 wins, 58 were by K.O.
4- Salvador Sanchez; 44-1-1 incredible counter puncher, great chin,beat the best of his time including; Wilfredo Gomez, Azuma Nelson,Juan LaPorte and Ruben Castillo. Died way before his time.
5- Vicente Saldivar; 37-3-26 incredible body puncher, won feather weight title 3 times had 26 K.O's in his 37 wins.
Barerra, Morales, De LaHoya, Carbajal, Pepino Cuevas, Chiquita Hernandez, Canizales, Napoles, Chacon, Ruelas, Jose Luis Castillo and JL Ramirez, ect ect ect. I can go on and on.............. IMO no other country has the tradition that Mexico has in boxing. It is engrained in the culture and as long as there is boxing, there will be great Mexican fighters
