MMA fighters have evolved so much since the first UFC that there are, currently, some well rounded fighters who possess the complete package at having an incredible stand up game and awesome ground and pound skills.

Sure, Floyd can tag and stun many of them, but that's where it ends as far as boxing.

Now, if Floyd were to develop his ground game and kicking arsenal to the point where his boxing skills are, then he would probably be a top fighter in the UFC, considering there are less rounds to compete in.

In boxing, Floyd dominates. In MMA, Floyd get's a wake up call.
mma is for guys who cant box.......................plain and simple they never stand and fight they always got make out on the floor in spandex that **** is so gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyand boring and ******.......might as well be a street fight.......mma got

Trust me I know he is. But ask yourself this. If Maywether was fighting another fighter besides DLH would the tickets sell out in 3 hours ??

That's what Dana's getting at. Someone would have to be living under a rock not to know who Floyd is.

Some of you guys are stuck on ******. MMA is DIFFERENT sport. Trust me, it is not a 2nd tier sport guys who could not make it in boxing choose. Is football for guys who failed at baseballl. Is hockey for guys who failed at basketball?

And comparing the atletes from one to the other is idiotic. Could Payton Manning strike out Barry Bonds? Does that mean Manning is a bum? Get real.

Floyd fighting some other dude would not sell out in 3 hours, but neither would Oscar fighting someone who isn't Floyd, so what White said is ****** a hell.

600k buys for DLH-Mosley. DLH can sell, but he can't do the big numbers with just anyone...

The baldomir fight...the one where half the people left early and the ones that didn't booed at the end?

My copy of, "A Fighter's Heart" by Sam Sheridan arrived today.

For those unfamiliar with the book here's the Amazon.com description.

                http://www.amazon.com/Fighters-Heart...5968953&sr=1-1

                Book Description

In 1999, after a series of wildly adventurous jobs around the world, Sam Sheridan found himself in Australia, loaded with cash and intent on not working until he’d spent it all. It occurred to him that, without distractions, he could finally indulge a long-dormant obsession: fighting. Within a year, he was in ****kok training with the greatest fighter in muay Thai (Thai kickboxing) history and stepping through the ropes for a professional bout. That one fight wasn’t enough. Sheridan set out to test himself on an epic journey into how and why we fight, facing Olympic boxers, Brazilian jiu-jitsu stars, and Ultimate Fighting champions. Along the way, Sheridan delivers an insightful look at violence as a career and a spectator sport, a behind-the-pageantry glimpse of athletes at the top of their terrifying game. An extraordinary combination of gonzo journalism and participatory sports writing, A Fighter’s Heart is a dizzying first-hand account of what it’s like to reach the peak of finely disciplined personal aggression, to hit—and be hit.
A quote from the book that, kinda, is related to this debate.

There is nothing so frightening as being on the ground with a guy who really knows what he's doing; it's like being in the water with a shark. You're struggling, desperate, trying to escape, and suddenly you can't breathe, you're smothered, and you can't see, your arms are getting twisted off, and you “tap” and then it's all over.

Personally, I would like to see Dana get his wig split by Mayweather in a fight. **** would be hilarous. But I can't see why ANY boxer would look down on the top flight MMA fighters. Fedor would absouletly **** any of the heavyweights out there. Could you imagine a Rampage vs James Toney fight? **** would be jokes in the press confrences. MMA is the future. I will always love boxing and follow it, but I can accept change when I see it. This fight game keeps on evolving, and I for one don't see anything wrong with it.

                    Mma

Boxing takes a lot of discipline. Wrestling takes a lot of discipline. Karate and other traditional martial arts requires a lot of discipline. When all of it is combined into the Octagon it appears that discipline is thrown out the window and a bloody match of trickery and psychological warfare takes place. Examples of fighter's mindset: "I'm gonna fake a shoot then knee his chin" <----WTF........"I'm gonna go far a right hook and if I miss I will choke this *****." Yes, MMA takes a lot of hard work and dedication but people in the MMA world should be thankful for the other combative sports. PBF shouldn't have put down MMA and Dana White showed some class by not insulting the whole sport of boxing.

Your absoutley right RenRen. To me, it sounds like Dana is crying that he never got his boxing career off the ground. All I'm saying is that the new generation of MMA fighters are very balanced. Good to great strikers with years of subs and wrestling underneath their belts.
