Theres no rushing Andre Ward By Doug Fischer

Lot of questions about where Andre Ward has been this is a pretty good article done by one of the best in boxing.

Ward's trainer makes a great point referring to Melderick Taylor...saying Taylor was good enough to beat Chevez he just wasnt man enough and he says the same goes for Jason Litzau...that really hits home doesnt it.

Taylor had a victory in hand and out-manned Chavez for much of the fight...but Steele stole victory from him.

Andre Ward will never been what Taylor was. He does not have the chin or heart.

Yeah, I read Ward's trainer talking about that and I was like "what fight are you talking about?"

If that's a case to NOT rush a guy it makes no sense.

There is some good rationale there, but still, 10-0 after two plus years without fighting anyone with a pulse? Disappointing, no matter how you cut it...

A KO is a KO even with 2 seconds left in the fight. It's not the ref's job to worry about the time.

Ward couldn't carry the jock of Meldrick Taylor. Taylor was a phenom and Ward is not gonna be close to that. Taylor was too much of a man and traded with Chavez too much which cost him his career in the long run.

It's a very interesting article and I hope that approach works for Ward.

It was a strange choice of words, but I see what he's saying.

It would make more sense to say they weren't experienced enough, that they were kids (22, 23 years old).

This is false. Refs are trained to worry about time, and I would know this on two counts. Firstly, my uncle is a pro ref. Secondly, in the last round, a red light behind the turnbuckles signals when there is 10 secs left and Steele either missed it or ignored it.

Either way it was a mistake.

OK. In any case though it was an unfortunately complicated sequence of events, and not a 'robbery'. A KO did in fact occur.

                  Peace

Buddy: the point of the Taylor comparison though was not to suggest that Ward is in that league.

I am just a Taylor fan is all. Fastest hands I can remember seeing. The guy won gold at 17 and his condition now makes me sad. I almost fought a promoter that used him in a show here a few years back. I called the guy and cussed him out after seeing his advertisement using Taylors status and creditials to push the show. I would have beat the guys ass if I could, and I wouldn't attend the show.
