Utter ****. Total nonsense. I've been to many Calzaghe fights in England and never have I seen him booed out of the ring. And those I wasnt at live I watched on the TV. Sorry but you're talking out of your arse.

And Welsh is spoken in North Wales but in South Wales, where Calzaghe's from, it's hardly spoken at all.

And the English don't really hate the Welsh, it's like a friendly rivalry more than a hate. Welsh teams play in the English premiership, we have the England and Wales cricket board, you can drive in and out of the country and not notice you've left. They are different countries, but Calzaghe fighting in England doesn't count as him fighting abroad.

Now, him fighting in Denmark and Germany - THAT counts as him fighting abroad.

Whats even worse is something like... When Moremeck cruises to to a win.. he was Running.. But if Mayweather does it.. he is a defensive genius..
If Shannon Briggs or Hasim Rahman get KO'd by some ****ing stiff.. They are making a comeback and better than ever.. If Wlad Klitschko does it.. He is overated and taking easy fights..IF Briggs or Rahamn get Ko'd it was a lucky punch and anyone can get KO'd.. If Wlad Kiltschko gets KO'd he has no chin or heart..
If joe Calzaghe fights less than stellar opostition.. he is ducking everyone.. Again If Mayweather does it.. He is just doing good business..
Americans for the most part cant seem to handle the fact that they ARE NOT the centre of the universe and That their people are not always the best..

That's just not true. They are not completely separate nations, and most Welsh people don't even speak the old Welsh language.

Calzaghe may not have been the fan-favorite against certain English fighters depending on what region the fight was in, the opponent was from, etc. But that happens in every country, when two domestic fighters from different regions square off.

Bottom line is, if you want to fight for the MONEY, you come to the USA. It's not about home cooking because anyone from the US will understand that because the US is so big, fighters from the south or north east dont have a sence of "american" pride but more so from what town or city or state they are from.

20 years ago, there was no "pay per view" revenue the way it is right now. So it wouldnt make much sence for fights to take place in the UK or anywhere in Europe where most buyers would have to watch the fights at 3 am.

If I want to play soccer at the highest level and get top dollar for it, guess where I'm going, EUROPE. Same goes for boxing, like it or not.

That's a fair point, but the point of my post was not about money. It was about the respect someone gets for their wins. My point is that you should get just as much credit for beating a Tszyu, a Lacy or a Marquez in Manchester or Indonesia as you would were you to beat them in Madison Square Gardens.

I understand why people want to go there - for the money. That's fair enough. But if the money's just as good over here and if the fighters are just as good, then where the fight is held shouldnt come into it.

Not always true....lennox moved to the UK,and calledhimselfbritish in order to make money..when he had offers from american promoters ....also when the G-Man and Benn got it on...Benn got 700k,and the G-Man got 63k,which ended up being 250k in the end with medical treatments, and flying family over and so on...and im not saying wow 700k...loadsa money, but back in 96 it was decent money for a 32 year old,and lennox and bruno, and hamed all made themselves millionaires before taking'big'fights in the US. Calzagehas mademillions...it can be debated who he has faught n so on...but,he has a gorgeous wife, millions ni the bank, undefeatedchampion of the world....granted it would probably be easier to make money in the US....but if you've got sometalent, and the right backing, you can make milions in the UK...Money-wise tyson has made more then lennox and bruno...yet bruno is doing ok financially, lennox is doing great...and tyson is whoring himself off aroud the world to pay of debts

The Wire I get your point and your right in the sence that fights should take place wherever and still make revenue. Unfortunatly, it's not like it was in the 70's and 80's where fights were taking place all over the world on a regular basis.

Remember watching Ali fight in Zaire, Switzerland, Germany, Argentina ect ect ect? It doesn't happen anymore because of the pay per view revenue and the fact that the majority of the money comes from US homes.

I understand your gripe and wish it would be more international but until Europe or Africa or anywhere else other than the US can generate that type of money, you will continue to see fights in Las Vegas my friend.

They may be fighting in Russia, but THEY HAVE TO FIGHT AT AMERICA'S SCHEDULE.

So...in a way, we are the center of the Boxing Universe.
