    Amatuer boxing?

Let me start by saying this, my coach is an idiot. His idea of amatuer boxing is two guys standing in the middle of the ring slugging it out. He expects us to constantly throw punches with the other opponent, which can definately get your ass knocked out. Anyways, he gets mad at me when I try to "box" my opponents, you know, a quick combo and then get back and then come back in with another combo. Should I switch gyms or are all coaches like this?

Definatly switch gyms! Is he like that with everyone at your gym? I've heard of some coaches who take an interest in certain students and kinda neglect others leaving them to develop bad habits and poor technique.

Well I am pretty new (started about 4 months ago), and I noticed that I am the only one he tells to do this. He either gave up on everyone else, or he is trying to get me killed. I am guessing it is the latter.

most of the time the guy whos throwing loads
of punches wins. its about points and being active
you need to listen to ur coach or change gyms

hes right amature boxing comes down to who has better reflexes to dodge punches and the higher work rate since its all about who lands more punches. and maybe he doesnt actualy want you to fight that way but is just trying to get you to build more stamina since alot of fights turn out that way

                    exactly
your coach dont want you to
go out there and have a corrales castillo
war every go. but you aitn ready or in the
position to be jabbin pivoting or anything on
anyone. get out there bust your ass and listen
                    to ur coach.

you think floyd was pretty boy when he started.

that stuff comes with experience trail n error LISTENING
TO YOUR COACH. not watching it on tv and thinking you can
do that on the hwavy bag you can do it in the ring.
go head spar the kid that listen to your coach and u try and
box him he gonna break you down.

noone is telling u to go out there and swing wild and ****
but you stay in there keep your punches
