New controversial Ring P4P ranking

Hatton is not the best welter and never will be. He is very good but no where near great.

If he was great, he would have dispatched Collazo...instead he could and probably should have lost that fight...

He doesn`t have the style to be a top level fighter...how many fighters who rely basically on work rate are going to be great?

He defeated Tszyu with work rate....

He can knock the **** out of most of the middle tiere light welters and UD the top guys, but he doesn`t look impressive in doing so...

he will never move up to welter again, i can`t see him fighting MW either.

He needs to start fighting the big names or he'll be a footnote in boxing history.

I like Hatton, i've seen a few of his shows.....but lets be realistic...he is nowhere near great ....

I scored hatton collazo 115-112 to hatton, it wasn't a particularly hard fight to score and hatton both out-worked and out-landed collazo by about 70 punches. Alot of American fight fans who don't like hatton let bias cloud their judgment.

"Fairly comfortable decision?" What the hell were you watching. That was a give and take fight which either fighter could have won. What makes Hatton look bad is the way Mosley dismantled Collazo recently and Mosley was a lightweight...

When I say 'fairly comfortable decision', I am referring to the fact that it was a unanimous decision where two of the judges gave him the victory by three rounds. Very few people (but for the Anit-Hatton brigade) complained about the decision. To me, that seems fairly comfortable, especially taking into consideration that Hatton scored a knockdown and wasnt knocked down himself.

You give Hatton way too much credit for being undefeated. His record is padded. Like I said earlier, you take away the win against Tsyzu and his resume is worse than Cotto's. On talent alone, Hatton gets nowhere near a P4P list.

I'm not giving him too much credit for being undefeated. I think that being undefeated when you're into your 40th fight is quite impressive (evidently so do the P4P ranking guys), especially when taking into consideration that you have been fighting for or defendings world recognised titles for the past 19 bouts. I'm sorry my friend, but the "take away the win against Tsyzu" thing really grates on me. Why the **** should we take it away? Hatton won it, he defeated THE MAN not only in the division, but one of the top names in the P4P list himself. Why should we take this away from him? Not many of the other current top P4P rankings have beaten more than one name from the top 10 (let alone top 3) P4P list from the present or the recent past, so why should you take that honour away from Hatton and not them? Let them prove themselves by beating such a highly rated competitor. Hatton already has and he deserves the credit for it.

Moving up one division and beating a paper champion isn't all that impressive. In just the last couple of weeks, the Marquez brothers have each moved up a division and defeated the RING champions at 122 and 130. Beating the man in the division is something significant, not a paper champ.

And they are both in the top 10 P4P list, just like Hatton. So what is the complaint? When I ask for people to name other fighters who in the last year have remainded undefeated, won both of their fights and winning titles in different divisions, I dont see anyone naming people who ARENT ALREADY IN the P4P top 10. So who isnt in the top 10 who deserves Hatton's place? Surely its someone who has accomplished more than Hatton, so name me those people.

Lower top 10? Where do you mean exactly? 6th? I'd like you to rank Collazo in the division at the point where he faced Ricky Hatton. In fact, better than that, where actually was Collazo considered in the actual rankings in that division at the time? Because I personally think that moving up a division for the first time and fighting a risky styled guy who is ranked number 6 in his division and beating him is actually quite impressive. As for Mosely's performance against Collazo, didnt Collazo break his wrist early into the fight? I think that Collazo himself deserves a bit more credit and a bit more time to prove his worth (preferably when he isnt fighting with a broken wrist). I dont recall Mosely knocking Collazo down either. So that demonstrates to me that he's a very tough and durable guy that Hatton did well to knock down.

Hatton is an OK fighter, but he is not P4P caliber and it's starting to show now that we've had the chance to see him more...

May I remind you that Kostya Tszyu was number 3 on the P4P list? He NEVER moved up a division and did suffer a defeat on his record when he was at number 3. Hatton stopped him (thus making it a fair call for him to occupy a list on the P4P, 'to be the best, you've got to beat the best' etc. Maybe not number 3 spot, but top 10 until someone proves otherwise). Since then he has moved up a divison (which again Tszyu at a legitimate number 3, who many people considered the greatest ever fighter in his division), he has won a title in that division. He has also won another title in the JWW division.

If he was in the top 10 P4P after beating Tszyu (and I cannot think of any good reason why he shouldnt be), then realistically the only way for him to get out of the top 10 is for him to be beaten. Winning a couple of titles and remaining undefeated doesnt, to me, seem like a fair reason for him to be removed from that list.
