i can see your reasoning for saying pacquiao, but oscar de la hoya?? if anything he is the epitomy of a big star outside the sport. what are you smokin?

he's garnered as much ppv revenue that rivals even the biggest HW events on his own. he sells out arenas on his own. and for the may 5th fight, i think it's pretty obvious who was the main reason for the 3 hour sell out, and 20 million live gate, cus we all know it wasn't floyd.

are you joking? everyone knows who oscar is. you're either delusional, a holyfield nuttrider, or a de la hoya hater. but to say "mainstream" people don't know oscar, is like saying "mainstream" people don't know shaq when it comes to basketball. if there's one thing that is still in the general public's mind about boxing, it's oscar.

I disagree. I talk to plenty of boxing people all the time. The women is what makes it equal. Women do not like Holyfield, but they love De Ha Loya. And I'm pretty sure DLH has more PPV sells total than Holyfield.

Many of Holyfield's buys can be attributed to Tyson's massive following anyway. Holyfield is huge, but no huger than DLH from my experince. We just go in different circles.

I remember Rick or someone stating that 70% of the tickets sold to see DLH come from Women alone between 16-40 or something.

And I think they're equal in draw. Holy and DLH.

go to the uk, asia or canada and ask random people if they know who oscar is? They would say oscar who?

I dont even know why people are doubting me, i remember i made a thread on this before and people from international countries clearly told me that holyfield is bigger name than oscar.

The fans missed out on a great, and probably legendary fight.

Easy to talk **** about Evander behind the safety of your keyboard, isn't it? There is no proof that Evander ever took steroids, and until there is, shut your face.

because most people are super casual observers they dont know whats going on in boxing, and since the exposure on sports news broadcast is also low they dont know which way is up.

MAB and JMM are too little. Your average Joe doesn't want to watch two guys who barely weigh 100 pounds. Neither do I frankly
