More people watched Holyfield than the MAB-JMM fight?

How could so many people pass on this great fight?! Marquez and Barrera put it all on the line, they had a rep as great fighters and the fans don't show up to support "our" sport. The arena didn't fill up until the main event and only about 8,200 showed up.

More people watched Holyfield - Maddalone! How ****** is that?

I used to love Holyfield but now, who cares? He is widely suspected of steroid use and he's just old. I think JMM-MAB was a great fight and I am curious to know how many people bought it. Surely more people saw the MAB-JMM fight on TV than the Moldyfield fight.

Holyfield is more famous than any current boxer, why wouldn't people watch him. He is known among casual mainstream americans, something oscar and pacquaio cant brag about.

Oscar is just as popular as Holyfield, if not moreso, and his PPV numbers reflect that.

Not among mainstream people, maybe among boxing fans. Go ask random people who is oscar and then aske them who is holyfield. Whenever i talk to random people, they dont know who the **** de la hoya is.

I also belive that holyfield vs tyson outdrew any oscar ppv to ever exist. Holyfield vs lennox lewis outdrew oscar vs b-hop.

In my experience people know De La Hoya as much as Holyfield. It has a lot to do with women also. Oscar's PPVs have sold more consistently over time than Holyfield's from what I know.

Its sucks Maddelone was such a ***** and Holy kicked the **** out of him because it just means that he still will carry on with his delusional plan to become a title holder yet again. He is done flat out and should realize it before he gets hurt.

It is pathetic to think more people were interested in what Holyfield was doing than watching 2 of the sports premier fighters wage war on each other.......I watched Barrera/Marquez for the record.

i dont know how you can say that. Do you have a list of holyfield's ppv numbers prior to his fight with tyson? Most of holyfield's big fights came before 2000. Holyfield's biggest paycheck for a fight is greater than oscar's, holyfields' 4 biggest ppv fights drew bigger numbers than oscar's 4 biggest ppv fights.

Holyfield had a very successful videogame, he was on dancing with the stars. His fight with tyson made him a worldwide figure, people from asia know who he is.

The name holyfield is more famous than the name de la hoya.
