only thing is tarver isnt really the guy to bring attention to boxing via mainstream tv, especially after his last fight, unless they think that he's popular now after the rocky movie............................

it's not just the rocky movie. its the fact that he is a very talented fighter.

Probably top 3 or 4 best in the lightheavyweight division.

      And, he has KO power.

People like KO's, and he'll probably give the fans a KO on ABC, which will be good for boxing.

AND, on top of that, it'll make any fighter who beats him later on, that much bigger.

Like Dawson, who is in for a looong reign on the top, and has a great oppurtunity to save a piece of boxing, and to save the light-heavyweight division

i honestly think that tarver has lost the drive. and him being considered top of the light heavies isnt saying much for the light heavies out there.

i was never really big on tarver, he has ko power but something is lacking and i ca't put my finger on it right now. plus tarver isnt all that popular amongst general boxing fans, he is known some what but he is far from a house hold name and he is far from a boxing star, the movie helps him a bit that and the wins over RJJ, other than that no one really knows who tarver is. unless you know boxing well.

Good Lord...stop with that clip of him KOing Roy. He never was and never will be on Roy's level. Beating the man does not make you the man. Not in this case.

It's good that boxing is going to return to network tv.I don't think Tarver is the best fighter to represent our sport though.Maybe he'll show up and give the fans an exciting ko to kick off the return of boxing to network tv but I wouldn't count on it.

Personally I think it is good for boxing. Tarver's role in the Rocky movie has equity that can be leveraged in promoting the fight, to the general population. You can't look at it the way we look at it. Most folks out there don't know schit about boxing. But they know this guy from the Rocky movie and he must be somthing if they had him in the movie. And hell if Tarver shows up, it could be a positive effect.
