Hitting the heavy bag for the long just means your hands are used to punching something which will make it easier for you to train. It does not give you alot of power although it improves your punching. In the other hand, If you were hitting the bag in a ****ty non balanced way, then it might affect you because you will have to learn the proper technique and stance to punch. And that will be hard if you're use to hitting the bag the wrong way.

If you have been hitting the bag for 5 yrs with no instruction. You may have picked up alot of bad habits like arm punching that will need to be addressed before you can knock people out. You may be okay I have seen guys in the gym for months score legit knockouts in smokers and sanctioned bouts their first time out.Comment
