Allan Green's Excuses for Losing to El Pantera

    http://www.******************.com/articles.php?id=854

JH: Alright. Let’s just get right to it. What
    happened?

AG: I am not going to make any excuses. Edison won the
fight but I was not right for that fight. I was sick for the fight. I had a medical condition and have had
    other medical problems.

    JH: Medical problems?

AG: Yes. And like I say I am willing to post my medical records online. If anybody says that Green is making excuses.

JH: We can make that happen. If you really want to post your medical records online. I have -

AG: ( cutting me off ) Not taking nothing away from him, you know because if he had felt the same way as I did. I would have done the same thing to him. He did what he was suppose to do. He won the fight. I signed the contract to fight him. When you win you win. When you lose you lose.

JH: You lose. I got you. Okay so are going to take care of these medical problems.

AG: ( cutting me off ) I have been to the doctor three times in the last two days. Like I said I haven’t felt completely completely strong. An 100% strong in about a year. Its finally caught up with me and now its finally time for me you know, say yeah man I finally have to get this taken care of. I can’t keep doing like this. Its hurting my training camps. They are
okay but they are somewhat dismal because some days I am not feeling as strong as I should and some days I am.

JH: So you are saying that your energy levels sometimes go up and sometimes go down at times.

AG: You have to remember that the low normal for blood sugar is 70. That’s the low normal. Mines was 63. And that was after the fight! During the fight and before the fight it was lower than that. My iron levels was extremely low. And I am anemic. And I have all of this on record.

JH: Okay. Like I said we can make this happen. If anyone wants to dispute what you are saying we can post it on boxing confiden - -

AG: ( cutting me ) Not taking anything away from Edison Miranda. He did what he was suppose to do. He felt the best that night. And since he felt the best he was the better man that night. And he won the fight. But you know what I am saying, like I said I haven’t went anywhere. I am already back! I am already back. I am already ready to fight again. My ego is not
tarnished. My confidence is not tarnished. Because I know for a fact that I am the better fighter. I know for a fact that I am the better boxer. I know for a fact that me a 100% he is not in the same league as me. Even the way I felt that night. Technically I
showed that he was not in the same league as me.

JH: Okay. What about this? You know you are going to have some people asking this. You did talk a lot going into the fight and you were very confident. Some people may even say you were boarding on arrogance. Sowhat are you going to do now? A lot of people are probably going to dismiss you for a while because - -

AG: ( cutting me off ) Yeah, yeah they can. That’s part of the game. But things like that happen to various fighters. Bernard Hopkins. Sugar Ray Leonard lost to Robert Duran. I mean - people are what they are. Fans are fans. They can do what they do. They can say what they say. I don’t want to say I will be back because I am already back.

JH: Okay. Your confidence is not shaken my man. So you are going to try and attempt to have a fight back in May?

AG: Yeah. I think its in the works right now. Possibly May and than get myself back into the mix. That was something really out of my control. Just like I said it was out of my control. I didn’t feel my best. Edison Miranda felt great. And he took advantage of it and won the fight.

JH: Okay when you get back into the ring. Are coming back at 162 or going back up to 168?

AG: Nah. Nah. I think I will fight again at 162. I don’t want to automatically contribute that because I know it had to do with my medical problems.

JH: I got you. The only reason I said 168 is in the earlier interview we had you said that you were having trouble getting fights and now after this performance you may get a lot of fights because people may start to think that you are not as good as you may think you are. And sometimes that does opens up opportunities for fighters because people think, well okay maybe he isn’t all that good and now I will fight him. I am
just saying if opportunities are at 168 will take those.

AG: Yes. Of course I would. If opportunities arose at 168 of course I would take it. But I still have business at middleweight. 168 will still be there. And if I have opportunities at that weight I would do that. But I have business to take care at middleweight. Like I said, between me and you on a scale of 1 to 10 that night I was probably a 3. And if I would have won the fight I would have said the same thing. I would have said probably a 3.

    JH: Okay.

AG: And if anybody would have asked me that before the fight I would have said I am about a 3.

JH: Okay. So, you definitely want to get back in the ring and get yourself right health-wise.

AG: I have been working on that since I got back. The moment I got back that’s what I have been working on. And if any of the sports writers or anybody want to say, Oh Allan is making excuses. Like I said I will post everything I told you on boxing confidential.

JH: Yeah. Okay. We can do that.

AG: And that’s not making an excuse. But you asked me a question. You asked me.

    JH: Hmmm

AG: You asked me what was wrong and that was the first thing you asked me. And I told you what was wrong. And so if anybody asked me what’s wrong?! Then I will tell them. If they asked me, your thoughts on the fight? I would just say I was not myself and Edison fought a good fight but if you ask me what’s wrong than I will tell what was wrong.

JH: That was the basic thing I was asking.

AG: Anybody who has seen me whether you love me or hate me. If you have ever seen me fight it was painfully apparent when I came out. It was painfully apparent! Wait a minute something is wrong. As slow as Miranda jab is why is Allan is not countering or doing anything.

JH: Yeah. You weren’t throwing the right hand at all.

AG: Wasn’t throwing the right hand at all. When Allan Green gets anybody hurt. Allan Green - people compared me to Gerald McClellan as far as finishing people.

    JH: Hmmm.

    AG: When I got him hurt. I couldn’t -

JH: Were you trying to set traps for him by moving back so much.

AG: Yeah. I was trying to get him to come in and catch him with something. But it was fool’s gold. I couldn’t counter with the speed and vision I that needed to because of the way I was feeling. I could see everything. Everything - I was thinking man this guy is slow. But I couldn’t react. I couldn’t pull the trigger.

JH: Your fight in May. Will in be a big name? Or are you and John are going to take something small and build yourself back up?

AG: No. No. No. I want a top guy. Like I told you my confidence is not shaken. I am not the type of guy (mock crying ) oh he lost a fight. Oh - I am going to fight a bum to try and get my confidence back. I don’t need that ****! I am not that type of fighter. I don’t need that ****. I trying to get in there with a guy who is a pretty good fighter.

JH: Okay. Well thanks for clearing up things.

AG: And anybody who wants to see any of these documents they can. And I would rather not do it but before I let anybody call me a liar I will do that. But doing that will take away from Miranda’s victory. But before I am called a liar I would do that.

JH: I understand. A lot of people look at fighters who could up with a lot of excuses. Fighters say they are sick. They have the flu -

AG: ( cutting me off ) I could have fought with the flu. I could of did it with the flu but with dehydration, dangerous low electrolytes, blood sugar, anemia and my colon. That’s a whole different story all together. If I had the flu I still would have won the fight. Like I said it wasn’t so much as him as it was me. I think I practically gave it away because there was nothing I could do.

JH: Was it bothering you that you couldn’t pull the trigger?

AG: Yes. And as I walked out of the ring all I thought about was I can’t wait until my next fight. I can’t wait to fight again.

JH: When you fight again. Will you be trying to make a statement! Because you will have your doubters.

AG: I haven’t felt a 100%. I haven’t felt strong in about a year - huh - year and a half maybe. But I haven’t felt a 100% in along time being that I have had these problems. After this you will see a totally different fighter.

JH: Why did you fight for so long under those disadvantages? Because when you don’t give yourself your best chance you are allowing your opponent to have a greater advantage. Was it -

AG: I didn’t think it was as serious until something came up with my mum and she found out she had the problem and that may me think maybe I need to go get checked out.

JH: No disrespect towards you but do you believe that your self-confidence was your undoing?

AG: Yeah. Yeah, yeah - you know how guys are. You know how we are - thinking I don’t need to get this **** out. I am cool. I will be alright. Taking nothing away from him. Even all of that. Most of it I found out afterward. I knew about the colon infection and I knew my electrolytes were low and I knew I was going to get dehydrated. But as far as the sugar and the anemia I wasn’t quite sure about. I wasn’t quite sure about. I found out about that later. So given the first three things I named I was like yeah hell I will be okay. I will go in there beat him like that. I am not sweating
    this.

Well we all know fighters come up with the most fantastic excuses known to man. Thats because its such a pride/ego driven sport. But something was obviously "off" with Green that night. He looked sluggish and weak, what he says may very well be true.

But only a dumbass boxer would be a vegetarian. You only eat vegetables and are anemic, go figure!!

He would have lost regardless.......If he would have been more aggressive and feeling good then he would have gotten caught like he did late.....earlier in the fight....It was just a matter of time either way.A+ game Allan Green just can't beat Pantera.

Whatever. Allan Green is just making up these excuses because he was talking a lot of trash before the fight and didn't back it up. He felt the power of Miranda and didn't want to mix it up.
