He was a very good light heavyweight fighter and he could go to the hall of fame for his accomplishments there, but I don't think he is an all-time great fighter in general. I can't really see him beating any of the other top top LHW's of all time. Who knows though.

He has had one hell of a career and he should get some credit for that.

HOF for sure and beating up Maske won't help or hurt it. But seriously he was in the 84 olympics and hasn't had the $$ that Holy has, so why the **** does he keep fighting? I guess cause he wins. I'd like to see him fight Glencoffee Johnson in a crossroads for old dudes fight

haha...they both come to the ring aided by their walkers.

that would be an entertaining fight though.

Um, traveling to Germany to unify the titles against Maske is probably one of the most impressive things he's done. Most champions are too scared to go to Germany to unify (cough, Roy Jones) but Virgil did it twice. Even though he lost in the second one to Michalczewski, he showed he had a pair.

All-time great, to me, means top 10 all time at his defining weight. Or maybe top 15 in two different weight classes. He's close. He had some really good runs of defenses. The loss to Michalczewski and then to Jones probably keep him on the bubble. Especially since both were convincing wins for his opponents, probably the two best fighters he faced.

NO! Good wins against decent competition. Good career. May even be on the bubble when it comes to HOF, depending on how people will look back on his fights years from now, but definitely not all time great IMO.

Ask Roy Jones Jnr that question.
