yeah it is pretty ridiculous. when i typed this out it seemed odd to me, but with regards to their criteria i suppose it's not so strange.

What I think is interesting is a hall of fames need to rationalize their choices. For instance- if both Barrera and Morales get into the hall of fame and Manny beat them down, then had a solid career- Manny is ushered in. How else can you explain having beat several HOF fighters if you aren't of that caliber, too?

The same would be Shane Mosley's wins over Oscar - even if Shane wasn't going...he will go if Oscar does. The guys who vote them in aren't going to leave the question of, "Why did fighter A beat Fighter B.....but only fighter B is in the hall of fame?"

Now, I'm not saying this has always been the case- or that any boxer who beats a hall of fame fighter is going himself....but recently it seems to me that the boxing public had been geared towards that way of thinking.

I guess this is why it is called the Hall of Fame and not the Hall of Greatness.

            I love this thread topic...

I think that Casamayor needs to beat Diaz and Freitas, that's it.

For Zab Judah ( ) : I think that Zab needs to decisively beat Cotto, as well as Paul Williams, if Paul continues on his current path. I also think that Mosely would be a great case for Zab. he has alot of strikes against him though, sio it has to be pretty, or at least moderately smooth from here on out for Zab.

I don't think that JLC will ever have a realistic chance of making it into the HOF. He has a slight case due to his valiant style, but I think that he needed some of those key wins in his career. He's most notable to me for beating Casamayor, and Corrales once. That's not close to enough.

Shane Mosely is a shoo-in to the HOF, I think.

Cotto will have to beat Judah as well as each and every one of the top WW's before making a case.

Morales is questionable. There's not much he can do anymore. You'll just have to evaluate what he's already done. I hope he makes it in, though.

            Coralles- Never.

Calzaghe is interesting because I think that he's a great fighter who hasn't had the record of an ATG. He has a very slight case right now, but I think that he could easily make a better one against one of the top MW's.

I agree with Gringo when it comes to Edison Miranda, except that i don't think that he'll have to move up in weight unless there is some money up there. He will, however, have to beat Abraham and Taylor, as well a make (at least) 5 defenses at 160.

              Morales ain't questionable at all.

He's a sure-fire HOFer, probably gets elected into Canastota the 1st year he's eligble.

Morales is a lock for the hall of fame and is one of the 10 or so greatest fighters of the past 10 years. Here:

Thread I wrote comparing Morales with Bazooka Gomez.

Jose Luis Castillo also has notable wins over a very good lightweight champ in Stevie Johnston, former or current champs in Julio Diaz/Juan Lazcano/Cesar Bazan. He gave Mayweather hell and beat him in the minds of many. If he beats Hatton (or maybe even if not) he should be in there. He's certainly one of the best lightweights since 2000.

Judah would need to beat Cotto and several other top fighters to get in. Judah has no consistency to speak of...only a couple of impressive wins as well. Consistency is the key.

I will agree on Morales, but disagree on JLC. He beat Johnston once, but was handled by Stevie (IMO) in the second fight, yet there was a BS draw. He needs more than Diaz, Lazcano, and Casamayor to get in, don't you think? The thing is, I like the bastard. I just think that it's too late for him to make his HOF-caliber mark on the game. Hatton won't lose.

On Judah, I agree completely. I said that he needs to ride it out smooth from now on to have a chance, but you worded it well by stationg that he needs "Consistency". Flashes of brilliance won't do it for the Super one.
