Jorge Arce Ready for Mijares and with Darchinyan on His Mind

Jorge Arce spoke with Boxing Confidential a few minutes before he was to present himself at a San Antonio, Texas press conference to announce his April 14 battle with WBC super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares. The bout is the main support for Manny Pacquiao’s pay per view return against Jorge Solis.

As always, the charismatic Arce was not short on words and had a very special message for Vic Darchinyan!

RL: Are you ready for Mijares?

JA: I ready to beat him down like I did my last opponent.

RL: He is the champion, but has been acting like a challenger. He has called you out all over the media and followed you to your last fight in Anaheim.

JA: I am glad he is talking and chasing me, most of my opponents do not do any of that, I love the attention. If he even knows how to count, Mijares can start to count the days to April 14, because he is going to get his dream of fighting me. What he does not know is that it will be a nightmare for him.

RL: You’re a star in Mexico, no doubt, but fans in the United States are just starting to get to know you. How does it feel to have an opportunity to fight on Manny Pacquiao’s card, with the world watching?

JA: I feel blessed and I am super happy with Top Rank. This is a great fight for me, and the fans. Anytime two Mexicans get in the ring it is a war. Look at what happened last week with Rafael Marquez and Israel Vazquez. Mijares and myself will produce a war.

RL: Vic Darchinyan is another fighter who has been calling you out in the media. Any special words for him?

VD: Make sure you get this down. Vic, I will be happy to fight you in Sydney, Australia with your family as the judges. Nothing can save you from the beating I am going to give you.

Running your mouth is easy, tell your promoter to send Bob Arum an offer, I am not hard to find. Talk is cheap and I doubt that you can back it up. I will be very happy to fight you, like I said, even in Sydney!

Oh **** finally, Arce answered. After a very long long silence. As far as I know this is the first time he replied to all the verbal challenges by Vic. So now we'll have to wait for a formal negotiation. I hope this could happen before the end of this year.

Enough for the THRASH TALKS . . . start the negotiations!

This would surely be an absolute barn burner of a fight - it HAS to happen. I cannot think of a fight with more potential for sheer excitement, for me the only one that comes close is Valero vs Pacman. I think Darchinyan could win this - anyone that can go to Pacheco's hometown and beat him down like he did gets my respect. Both great fighters though, and I really hope this happens sooner rather than later.

this would be the first real test to Vic's dominance recently, he has been beating up smaller guys impressively, hopefully, Arce may make him fight going backwards sometimes during the fight. Vic style of fighting is very awkward, stalking his opponents who are visibly scared of his power with his right hand very low. Arce on the other hand has been known not to shy away from exchanges although one can also question is list of opponents, this will be a great test for both fighters and i will make my pick as the fight date ( if ever made ) draws near

The habbit of questioning a fighters opponents is a very weak and lame arguement. That only applies when a top fighter goes up against unknowns. In this case, these are two certified warriors inside the ring who are at the prime of their careers so throw the bull**** "who have they fought arguement" in the trash can. . . please.

This is another FOTY candidate in the making.

Yeah this would be a great fight. I saw Arce for the first time earlier this year and he wanted to mix it up with Ler but he kept running. I saw Darchinyan fight last week and his style was awkward but he liked throwing a lot of power shots. With both fighters liking to mix it up this should be a very exciting fight. My prediction at this moment would be Darchinyan by late round KO. His power would be too much in the end.

I did not make the question of their opponents the crux of my post but rather a feeble attempt to put both fighters in perspective, i used such words like impresive and not gun shy for both boxers, i was trying to match up the boxers and show how this would be their greatest respective fights in case u missed my drift.

I know . . . I know . . . I didn't miss your drift, in fact I shouldn't have quoted you. I simply wanted to beat the "crazy illogical posters" here, because later on all these arguements will go back down to it.
