Manfredo is popular in America and Ole Cal is trying to become popular here.......to the general public Manfredo is great so when Cal beats him they will think Oh my look at that bad ass, sexy sheep shagger........ -
You could ask this question about 50% of the time when referring to title fights.
If you were a promoter Jefe you would get so excited about the propsects of your fighter fighting someone like Manfredo who is little risk huge reward.
Im tellin ya youd be so ****ing pumped you may even cum all over your fiances face, she may even sense your excitement and eat a little of it.
Manfredo is a promoters dream...the only problem is that Joe should have fought in the states for this showcase and then after the fight he could really scream loud and clear "give me Hopkins, give me Wright or give me Taylor Amercia!"Comment

He got the fight because he was a popular character on the "Contender" just like Sergio Mora who will probably get the fight with Jermain Taylor.Comment

It's obvious that the fight was made to gain more recognition for Calzaghe in the States. However, i believe it is a mismatch, no matter how highly Manfredo is rated in America, and Calzaghe should be looking at the likes of Kessler, Tarver, or maybe Hopkins... That said, i'm sure he'll be looking for a bigger fight next, and i'm sure he'll dispose of Manfredo quite easily.Comment

He's looking for a bigger fighter now. They just happen to be looking the other way.
Calzaghe is hoping that this fight might turn their heads. Or at least the networks and the promoters who just see dollar signs.Comment
