Um, I dunno if this has anything to do with the topic though...I don't think Cotto has to change anything in his style. He just has to change his CURRENT attitude. He's relying too much on his power as I read somewhere. Dunno if it was an article on this site or someone mentioned it. I mean he's lately been fighting some light hitters and occasioanlly gets thrown in with a harder puncher. The problem is when he's fighting these lighter punchers constantly, he rather use power over technique and he just can't get so used to this as many great champions have and in the long run it lets them down. Trinidad and Naz are great examples of 2 who fell in love with their power and when they needed it most, it wasn't there.
If its Early enough for MIRANDA to change... why's it too late for COTTO???

I can clearly see the point. Cotto needs to concentrate more on developing his skills and technique rather than just relying on brute power all the time.
Well said.Comment

I think the article was alluding to the fact that Cotto cant change styles effectivly mid fight.
And if he fought an expert brawler/boxer, he would have trouble with either.Comment

Regarding the one-dimensional thing: that is a matter of taste. Some guys like defensive fighters, some guys like punchers. Some dislike both if they're one-dimensional, and back the more versatile fighters. So what?Comment

Are you sure? In the Urkal fight he turned lefty to protect the cut over his left eye, and in the mid rounds he also turned into counter punching...Comment
-
Yes and he did quite well. Cotto's performance against Urkal was terrific; not legendary, but very good against a tough opponent. He's not one-dimensional.Comment
