Could Berto Beat Urkal More Impressively Than Cotto?

Don't get so hyped up on Berto so soon. He hasn't shown much defense and Urkal can take a punch. Berto has only gone into the 6th round twice in his short career. If he doesn't KO Urkal early, which I don't think he would, he could be in serious trouble. He's a good prospect, but I wouldn't doubt it if Urkal beat him fairly convincingly at this point.

I guess getting 1 round off of PBF could be considered a "tough battle."

Cotto may have beaten Urkal impressively on the scorecards but, IMO, he didn't beat Urkal impressively at all. Infact, barring the point deductions, I had Urkal winning the last 3-4 rounds of the fight. I thought that after weathering Cotto's body shots earlier on in the fight, Urkal started to 'turn it on' with his own body assault and was able to land some pretty decent combo's on Cotto.

Actually, I was pretty dissappointed that Urkal's corner threw in the towel because Otay was not at all finished and should have been given the chance to go for the KO.

yeah right, even if he hasn't got much power he had good stamina, and beharps he could hurt cotto like corley did. but itake nothing away from cotto he is a great fighter, and his punches could knock out the most welterweight.Damn Urkal is really tough.

Not sure. Thats a huge step up in class. The uppercut Urkal took from Cotto has me convinced that he has a great chin. So Berto might have trouble knocking him out. I imagine thats the reason hes the oponnent taken. So Berto could get some good work in.

altho this is a win win situation for berto whether he wins or looses. similar to calzaghe/manfredo.there's statis there.

i really like berto. but he is so so green. and urkal is slick and dirty.
if they take the fight to germany their throwing him to the wolves.

don't think you can compare berto with cotto. which i think some are doing.
got to give cotto acculades for keeping on working the body of urkal.
don't think berto can be that savy at this stage.

Does it really matter.COTTO was obviously not in his best shape,I think when he fights and trains in PEURTO RICO its difficult to concentrate on the job at hand with all the distractions.When he fought QUINTANA and many people were picking him to lose he isolated himself for training and it showed.I think he looked at the age of URTKAL and his ko record and just did enough to make weight.I think if he had to he could ko URKAL a lot sooner.The real question we should be asking is why would HBO air another fight with an opponent who is 37 little ko power and just got knocked out.DIBELLA really makes me laugh it just goes to show all those rumors about BERTO's chin may be true.The difference is COTTO DID NOT WANT TO FIGHT URKAL, but had to or he would lose his belt.

urkal is a good fighter, he doesn't have power but he's a got a great chin, he's a good boxer and always comes in in shape. he'd be a tough test for anyone. he can't knock u out but he can make u look bad

Well his corner knows it's just a matter of time before Urkal kneel down because of those body punches. Don't you ever thought that these people are communicating with each other? The corner won't throw in the towel if there's no reason at all.

That's the reason why people find it unimpressive, NO KDs.
