I just watched the replay of Cotto/Urkal and....

I disagree with everyone and anyone who says that Cotto's perfomance was lackluster. I kind of thought the same thing last night because of the ending, but after seeing the fight again, I changed my opinion. Cotto had urkal hurt on several occasions. Cotto hit him many many shots that would have resulted in quality KO or TKO had a different fighter been in the ring. Urkal was a game opponent and took alot of punishment.

THe corner stating that they stopped it because of unfair officiating or illegal body shots is BS. THe corner got sick of seeing their fighter get pumbled.

I didn't see Urkal seriously visibly hurt on many instances, but there were times when he'd react to those body shots and some of the hooks to the head.

He's lucky he had his chin down when Cotto threw that sweeping uppercut because his head would have been taken clean off if he hadn't tucked it.

Pretty solid fight marred by headbutts, open scoring and an uneventful ending.

I agree with the stoppage and Cotto is a strong finisher, I don't think they were frustrated on the head butt calls, it was obvious the dude was doing it on purpose. I was more disappointed in the shape Miguel came in, he looked fat and was slow and stationary, definitely not in his best shape. Other than that, I'm glad he realized that at some point Urkal wasnt' going anywhere and stopped looking for the knock out, still winning the rounds. I think I only gave Urkal two rounds. Not a bad performance, but better not take Zab, Margarito, Williams or Cintron lightly as he took Urkal.

I don't remember what round, but Cotto hit Urkal with a ridiculous uppercut. I nearly fell out of my seat.

I couldn't have said it better. Those three reasons made me feel dissatisfied when I first saw the fight, but excluding those aspects, the fight was eventful and exciting.

I think people expected Cotto to KTFO Urkal, since he didnt they are hating on him. Urkals tough as nails, too bad he doesnt have any power.

Yep, his head almost flew off. He also hit him with some body shots that made urkal cringe and run away.

Heh. He was throwing his arms down everytime Cotto ripped his punches to the body.

That's complete bull****. They stopped it because everybody, including them already knows the official scores of the judges. It's a loss cause, there's no way Urkal can win the fight at that point.

I think people forget that Cotto had a cut over his eye lid too. So the blood was dripping right into his eye. He even said that was the reason he didnt give a better performance.
