I think Toney of 03' would beat Briggs and Maskaev. Im not sure if RJJ would have been as effective against any of the heavyweight champs of today. Not sure if Hagler would carry the weight up to heavyweight that well. He would have to be around 195-200 to compete since the champs are so big right now. BHop might be able to beat Briggs since his stamina is so bad, Im not sure about Maskaev or Valuev, and damn sure he would be destroyed by Wlad.
looking at the example of Toney and Jones, it seems natural to pick someone who moved up from MW to LHW and make some noise there, or at least someone who was very big for MW standards. From the past 50 years I can think of
**** Tiger,
Carlos Monzon,
Bernard Hopkins.
But seriously Jones and Toney were both freaks of nature, think about it:
the 156 pounds olympic silver medallist walks to the middle of the ring and shoots a right in hte face of a HW "champ".
the former football player, MW champ, SMW champ looks fat as **** and dodges 90% of punches HW throw at him at age 35. when he gets hit by one of the hardest puncher in the entire division, he just takes it.
I am convinced that in a few years, when all the screaming haters lose interestm, the nostalgics are dead and fights and records will speak for themselves, Jones and Toney will be mentioned in discussions about all time great fighters just like the great fighters from the past.
