Joan Guzman turned down Humberto Soto?

    By Lee Bates

Upon hearing rumors swirling in the media that his fighter WBO super featherweight champion Joan Guzman passed on a proposed bout with Humberto Soto, Guzman's manager Jose Nunez issued the following statement. "I just wanted to set the record straight. Joan Guzman had no knowledge of an offer from Soto's people. An offer was made to me but they were giving Joan a four week notice and that is not hardly enough time to prepare for that caliber of a fighter. All we're asking for is sufficient time and we'll accept the fight without hesitation. The same goes for Manny Pacquiao who is Joan's mandatory and the Juan Manuel Marquez-Marco Antonio Barrerra winner. We're looking to be in the biggest fights. That's what the fans want and we want to deliver that for them.

I read that earlier and think the title is misleading.....If you read it which I am sure you did, it makes sense why he turned down the fight....for now.

I'll let the posters decide whats a misleading title. There are many ways to interpret things and many different perspectives. As we've heard one, we'll hear more.

The title does make people think otherwise until they actually read he'd only have 4 weeks notice. That's probably one of the best fights today, two really talented guys who are somewhat unknown and under the radar, they'll be grabbing enough attention soon enough.

he said theyd heard no such offer
but then says the reason they turned down the offer is becuz of insufficient time to train
