Marquez vs. Vazquez; This fight deserves more attention

I think this fight is getting lost in the midst of so much going on this weekend, but it's not a bad thing. We have 2 very good action fights with competitive fighters in the Marquez Fight and the Miranda-Green fight and we have two fighters being showcased versus outclassed opponents in Cotto and Darchinyan, not to mention DLH-PBF which is like 2 full months away and still stealing all the headlines.

Dont forget, however these two guys are both elite fighter, unlike Green and Miranda, who love to fight and have very good knock out ratios. This is probaly one of the best fights that's been made in a while when you take skill and style into consideration. I'm picking Isreal Vazquez my late TKO, although based on his thier performance I think Marquez is going to knock him down at least once and possibly knock him out.

    What do you guys think?

Disclaimer: If either of these guys decides he's going "Box" the other guy and somehow does it, I'm going to hate him and you should too.

I agree completely with you, outcome and everything. This will probably be the best fight we see this year, and we all know this year is shaping up to be very special. So if you see just one fight this weekend, this month, or this year, I would definitely watch this one. I don't see how it could be a letdown in any way.

Well I know that this going to be a hell of a fight and probably many more does. But very few in this forum really follows the lower weight class like we do.

Anyway I'm picking Vasquez too on a very hard fought match. A pick em fight and I won't be suprised either if Rafa K.O.s Vasquez.

I'm a big fan of both of them but I think I'm favoring Vazquez in this one because he has fully estblished himself at 122, but the fact that Vazquez was hurt and dropped by Jhonny Gonzales who i feel is not in the same league as Marquez as a puncher puts doubt in my mind.

Same here, I'm a fan both. There's nothing really to dislike on these fighters. I'm picking Vasquez on this because yes has already established himself on the division and because of his KAMIKAZE fighting style. The guy is simply not afraid to go in and get hit. He did that against Larrios and Gonzales and gave him the results he wanted. On this case, Rafa is a very accurate power puncher and it goes down to the question whether Vasquez can survive his bombs.

I've also seen Rafa get hurt in past and the guy who hits solidly first wins this fight.

True, i guess since i haven't seen Rafa hurt in a while it isn't as fresh in my mind. Both these guys can slug and box but they've been promising a slug fest so we'll see. I guess I'll pick a winner on the fight night based on who's trunks i lied better and if either of them struggled to make weight.

              i disagree.

i think it depends on WHO is boxing.

If Marquez decides to box, which is waaaaaaaaaay more likely, then its still gonna be a war.

Marquez, i dont believe, doesnt have the reach that gonzalez has, which would allow Vazquez to get inside and pound away.

It could actually be a BETTER fight, because the first rounds would see a beautiful boxing performance by Marquez, but u slowly see his will power break down as he is drawn into a war and could possible get stopped.

I dont think this fight can go wrong at all... theres just no way it wont be at LEAST very exciting

Marquez has the longer reach actually, and I feel like if either one of them were to decide to box it would be Marquez because of good ol' Nacho. Vazquez never rarely purely boxes while Rafa does it at the beginning while breaking down opponents, but once again we'll see. I agree with you though, even with his reach i dont think Marquez can afford to fight that way, he needs to keep Vazquez of with hard shots, not jabs.

i think and hope that this fight is going to be the best one this weekend, it is a great match up and both of these guys have never had a dull fight let alone a dull round, at least from what i seen.

the miranda-green fight ought to be a gooden but i don't think it's going to have the same dynamic of the marquez-vasquez fight. but i think it's going to be good, i just have faith that the marquez-vasquez fight is going to be better.
