Cause as we all know, it isnt only the in-ring action and "lack-luster" heavyweight division that is bringing boxing down.
Getting rid of all the alphabet titles would help. I think there should be 1 and only 1 champion per division.

Stop putting fighters on who don't deserve shots and just want a paycheck. I can't count how many televised fights I see where fighters do not dig and throw out lazy performances.

I mean they give shots to guys who don't even love boxing enough to come to the ring always prepared always in shape.

Also there are too many titles. People aren't willing to pay for all the pay per views required to have 4 titles in each weight division.

Promoters are taking all the money, seating for fights is ridiculously priced, seems like everyone wants money and no one wants to fight or risk losing anymore.

I think this was suggested some time ago, but, how about matching great fighters with great fighters, then offering the winner of the fight 60% of the
purse, then providing both fighters with retirement funds so that they can live their retirement years in dignity. We'll probably get some great boxing and more respect for it as a profession then.

I don't know that more goverment regulation of the sport would tighten things up.

        Just my opinion.

Thats very true. Nowadays, Boxing isn't as appealing.

But its NOT because its barbaric. People love to show how macho they are, they love the adrenaline rush they could get from boxing.

Its less appealing because in Boxing, its a looooong, complicated, and uncertain road to the top. It really has to be your last hope.

In the NFL, You play ur ass off in highschool, you get a scholarship, u play your ass off in college, you enter the draft and hope you get picked. Its straight forward and if they talk about you on ESPN, your future is certain.

For example, lets take a look at the Great ROCKY MARCIANO. This is a guy that played center in a semi-pro football league. He played catcher for a Cubs Farm team.

Both sports obviously more appealing because your basically garunteed to have walking ability when you get old.

But having failed in both sports, he went with boxing. He was by far the best and boxing and he claimed to have loved the sport for his entire career. So why go for Baseball or Football?

So the very first had heroes? No, they fought because they needed "Milk"
YES, the very first gloved boxers DID have heroes. From the guys who went 20-100 rounds bareknuckle. Guys like Sullivan and Edwards and Aarons. These guys were heroes that everyone wanted to be like.

The fact is, there are more Options today to make money.

Music and Acting are other "Dream Jobs" that can earn you Millions. If you can get to the top, then a pot of Gold awaits. And at least in Music and Acting you can make it and not be talented. In boxing, there is no faking it.

In America you can become Rich so many ways. No need for boxing.
Well if u put it like that, there is no need for football, basketball, baseball... cause there are so many other ways to gain a living. Thats a meaningless sentence, that last one.

Sports are their to get ****** kids out of the ******s. Thats what makes up the vast majority of todays athletes. Boxing is for the toughest on the block, and if you havent noticed, these new generations consist of some pretty soft kids.
