i dont see how tua can be described as "active and focused"

the fact of the matter is that he has fought 4 times in 2 years against total bums and this will be his 5th...... fighting the caliber of opponent he is choosing he should have been in there 10 times in the last 2 years, and if anything, more times than that not less...

sounds like a nice guy, cool of him to take do an interview, but i think he should acknowledge that he just isnt that serious about the fight game anymore....

also, why not ask him why he intentionally priced himself out of a fight with shane cameron to fight robert hawkins for less $$$$$$$

I want the tough questions, this was more like pro-tua propaganda

Propaganda? Nah, I just wasn't prepared. If I knew I was going to interview him, I woulda brought some material. As it was, I ad-libbed it and did alright. I still have questions to ask him, but whatever. I never even heard of Shane Cameron, I have no idea who he is.

cameron is a young undefeated australian heavyweight, a fight with him would have huge domestic appeal for tua.... it would sell out fast and everyone in australia and new zealand would pay to see it televised....

cameron reportedly offered tua a quarter million to fight him and tua turned it down insisting he is worth at least half a million.... which is ridiculous

i know he isnt getting anywhere near 250,000 for fighting hawkins, to me that just screams that not only is he not ready for a title shot but he isnt even ready for a young, hungry domestic fighter....

for comparisons sake, i believe lyakovich earned 300,000 for his title defense against shannon briggs, thats the kinda cash tua is turning down despite having accomplished nothing in the last 3 years.

no offense or nothin, but i dont really want to hear tua talking about how effective he will be at 230 pounds cause (honestly now) he is never going to get there.... its just all the same ol feel good crap, throw a question hes not ready for and see how good he is at thinking on his feet....

peter has never been down in a fight. saying tua would stop him is a huge stretch espscially considering soft chinned rahman went almost 20 rounds with him

Rahman was a boxer who didn't take many clean shots from Tua due to the service of his jab and reach. Completely different styles.

I like Tua as a person and respect his heavy, heavy left hook but Peter would likely give him his first professional stoppage loss and end his career.

Now? I'd pick Peter because he's been more active against better opposition. But in their primes, Tua was just a better fighter. Sam Peter isn't as big a puncher as people make him out to be. He's just a physically strong guy, like a Jeff Lacy. He's not a one punch KO artist like Tua because he can't throw short, accurate punches. Tua could throw short punches, Peter just kinda clubs at you like George Foreman.

Peter may well be able to stop Tua now, it's a possibility; after all, Tua has looked terrible in his last few fights. Tua has taken a huge amount of punishment in his career and it's probably taken it's effect. Having said that, Tua has never officially been down in his career, and James Toney, who is no spring chicken himself, managed to go the distance with Peter twice.

A lot of people talk a lot of crap about Rahman and I've never really liked him myself, but people constantly forget how good a jabber and boxer Rahman is. Peter is not as talented as Rahman, and probably never will be. He is improving though.

The 1996-1997 Tua still creams Peter though IMO, and the version up until 2003 still beats him too IMO.
