The Official Ricardo Mayorga Vs. Fernando Vargas Thread

    March 5th, 2007
    Ricardo Mayorga (28-6)
    Fernando Vargas (26-4)

I am extatic that Mayorga has decided to fight Vargas. I think Mayorga will come more prepared for Vargas than he did against De la Hoya. I think he will stop Vargas with a late TKO. I can't believe this fight is happening, what do you think will happen?

So is it official now? Mayorga's problems with the law arent gonna cause any problems with this fight going on? I hope so, cuz I've always looked forward to this fight. Any idea at what weight they will be fighting at?

This fight could go either way IMO.Neither fighter has looked too good lately.
Im looking forward to the press conferences almost as much as the fight though.

lol..true. That is gonna be interesting. Though Vargas is totally different now. Imagine this fight when Vargas was at 147! Back then he would brawl and imo that was Mayorgas best fighting weight.

Their is no way their fighting on March 5th. Thats like in 3 weeks. I just read on B-talk that Mayorga has some court dates to deal with before anything. Then he plans on moving back down to welter. He also said he wants to fight vargas but thier hasnt been any contact that either liked.

If the fight happens IU'll say Mayorga Stoppage win, he aint what he was but Vargas is SHOT TO ****!!!! El Feroz once had the skillz to dismantle the Rugged Mayorga with relative ease, not now! Its a shame he fought my boy Tito so early, that essentially ruined his promising career

Vargas at this point is probably about 50 pounds over fighting weight. From what I have read though, this fight was never close to being done, and wont happen at all.

That's a shame. Woulda been a hell of a promoted fight. So Mayorga is talkinag baout going back down to 147? I dont think he can, imo. In fact, I thought I remember him saying he couldnt make the weight anymore. I personally think it was his best weight, tho. Seemed a bit quicker and carried the same punch.

Mayorga cant even make 154 anymore. He was on suspension for a reason. He took a drug to help him make weight.
