Corrlaes was so outclassed by Mayweather that... and I am being serious here he probably could have been beaten by a FM with only one hand. The Freitas fight was going the same way but Freitas could not keep up the running for 12 full. Castillo would have ripped Freitas apart much quicker! Again Remember Castillo fought Floyd twice and beat him once and definately did not embarrass himself in the second fight...ask Floyd Mayweather who he'd rather face! The only guy in that has ever been outclasssed is Corrales so how is he a class above, that is absolutely crazy.
While what you say about Corrales and Mayweather is true you are forgeting one very important thing- and that is that styles make fights. And at that point in Diego's career he could not handle guys who moved around at all- and to some degree he still struggles with those types of fighters today. That being said, he has improved much in that area and his victories both over Freitas and over Casamayor in the second fight show that he has improved. Even if it were the case that Diego had not improved in this regard- Castillo is not really that type of fighter and Diego should be the favorite anyway! The only real loss of Diego's career is against Mayweather (I don't count Casamayor because at the time of the stoppage Diego was the fighter who was getting the better of it). Castillo meanwhile has been beaten by Mayweather twice, and lost to the likes of unheralded Mexicans such as Cesar Soto and Julio Alveraz. When you compair the level of competition of the two it is not even close- Corrales has big wins over Casamayor, Freitas, Gainer, Manfredy and took the IBF strap off of a tough Roberto Garcia. All of which he won in impressive fashion! Aside from his lone victory off of the overrated and inexperienced Juan Lazcano, Castillo's only wins are a couple of tough bouts with the less then amazing Stevie Johnston (one of which was actually a draw). The bottom line is that Castillo is a little overrated- his only big win in the past four years was Lazcano! Corrales is stonger, longer, has faced the better competition, and is really stringing big wins together right now. Not only is Castillo not going to win this fight- but it is not even going to be close.

Corrales was not getting the better of Casamayor in the first fight. He shook him a few times and knocked him down but he was definitely not winnning that fight. Corrales was also shook and knocked down a couple times in that fight also. He showed improvement in the second fight but I felt he surprised Casamayor more in the first half but did not dominate him. I thought Casamayor pulled out a close win in the second fight. That improvement he showed in the that fight didn't show up in the Frietas fight. It wasn't until Frietas started to really slow down that he was able to really touch him even though I think it was a closer fight before Frietas started losing steam. He hardly used his jab and I think with Castillo he will see the fight coming to him and he will abandon the jab and fight the way he always does. Castillo will take some good shots but his overall output will wear Corrales down to a unanimous decision.

i see this fight playing out a bit like corrales frietas
        dieogo landing shots
        but not really hurtin Castillo
        hes been stopped before
and i think that Castillo is goin to prove to strong and knowledgable for Corrales
i know Corrales is big for the division too
but Castillo walks into the ring at near middle
        Castillo by KO

I am not forgetting that styles make fights, I completely understand that. I responded to somone who said that Corrales was in a different class, I forget who it was but if it was you then shame on you. Castillo proved he can do anything, band like he did against Bezan and Lazcano or attack a slickster like he did against Jonston or Floyd. How can you say that Corrales has improved with movers sinse the Mayweather fight? You disregard the first casamayor fight, cmon I hate Joel but he was still winning that fight and not in half the trouble that you think he was in. He looked like the same Corrales in the fight with Feitas, he was inactive and cluless for most of the first half of the fight, Freitas just sucks thats all. The 2nd casamyaor fight was as close as it gets, it could have gone either way, its too bad Joel Casamayor is a ***** who doesn't like to fight the first six rounds of just about every fight he is in, had he have done this he would have easily won the decision, oh who got planted on their ass in that fight for the millionth time? Oh and you say Lazcano is the only win Castillo has, what about Floyd Mayweather, you would like to paint a rosy pitcure in some of Chico's fights but with Castillo there is no need to spin, he beat alot of peoples #1 p4per, he flat out beat Floyd, it wasn't even that close, compare that to the loss you don't count against Casamayor, cmon. Granted Corrales has a nice litte resume but we are talking about the strongest toughest 135 pounder in the world, Diego has never faced a real lightweight before. The debate is great, all I was saying in my first post was that there is no way Corrales is in a different class than Castillo, if anything the Mayeather fights with both guys cement that fact. Have a great day!

These are two of my favorites and make no mistake about it BOTH are World Class fighters, but its a bad style match up for Castillo.

The way to beat Corrales is to get on youe toes and move on him not to come right at him and try to slug. Corrales blows sluggers out of the water.

I think Corrales stops him late after a tee'ing off on Castillo's head for a few rounds.

Corrales is the type of fight Castillo wants also. I think this is good match up for both fighters. It is true Corrales has yet to face a true lightweight much less a junior middleweight who shrinks down to lightweight. Castillo will definitely be the stronger fighter and when it gets tough he will push Corrales back and Corrales can't fight going backwards. Somebody said Chico will hit Corrales easy but it will work both ways.

I like castillo, his awsome chin, straight forward latino style, he is a very good fighter, who shook the **** out of mayweather, and chico was dominated by mayweather, it could be interesting.
but Chico has been on such a high lately adn he's been whooping ass.
And Castillo did beat lazcano, but he wasn't brilliant in that fight.

I go Chico by Ud or SD.
