i think youd be short changing yourself to just take briggs word in this case.
i wouldnt be surprised if he were just very out of shape from not doing jack swuat since he won the title... and just now coming to the realization that there was no way he was going to be in respectable shape in just 3 more weeks
he cant just come out and say "im fat, i havent done anything but eat filet mignons since i won the title, i need an excuse, pneumonia sounds pretty serious, i guess that should do"
