And if Castillo can get himself geared up for this fight (meaning perform better than he did against Herman Ngoudjo) it would be a risky fight for Hatton.
I agree, it's a step in the right direction.

It will do absolutely little for Hatton here in the US in terms of raising his profile or truly winning over the non-believers.

In terms of percentages Rick will get minimal profit.

I'm not a big Ricky Hatton fan, still I give him more respect than I see most on this board give him at any given time. So will any of you respect Ricky Hatton more if he manages to defeat Jose Luis Castillo? Or will you simply take the "Castillo was overrated" or "Castillo is washed up" route simply to discredit Hatton further?

Because I can see it clear as day that when Hatton beats Castillo (and he will).... The haters will come out in full force trying to discredit Hatton's victory. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Hatton is a great fighter and I think he's been in decline ever since he defeated Tsyzu. however I still think Hatton deserves more respect than the bull**** I see on these boards daily.

Yeah I'd give him his well deserved props, but I think that a big If, cause I doubt he'll beat Castillo.

That won't mean ****. Look at what Cotto did to Sosa and then look at Mayweather vs. Sosa. Or how about Tito-Joppy, Hopkins-Joppy, and Hopkins-Tito. Being more powerful does not mean you're better.

Even if Hatton manages to KO or TKO Castillo I doubt it'd win over many of his doubters. They'd simply say Castillo was shot by the time Hatton got to him. Even at his age and with all the wars he had, I doubt Mayweather would get a KO or TKO on him even as he is today as I type this. Castillo just has too much heart and experience.

It would be a great win if Hatton beats JLC but my problem is that Ricky moved back down after the win over Collazo. Collazo gave him a fight and to some, Collazo should have won. He should have give Collazo a rematch.

well to be fair, i think castillo has lost alot of luster over the past 2 years, his wars with chico, and his weight problems, if ricky beats him, i think everyone will say its because he waited till the exact right moment to fight him, if it was 2 years ago it would hav made me very impressed tho

If Hatton can TKO or KO Castillo. This will speak volumes, as Mayweather could not TKO or KO Jose..
Only Chico could do it and he will be the only one, Castillo is the greatest chin of the last 10 years, hell, he hasnt even tasted the canvas in his entire career!!!!!, 4 stops on cuts one loss to Mayweather and a miracle from chico are the only losses of Castillo...

I certainly will respect Hatton if he beats Castillo, but we all know Castillo is war worn and really it doesnt mean much to beat him right now...

But still, Castillo is one of my favorite fighters so i will root for him to stop Hatton.

I already respect Hatton now, but him beating Castillo won't add up to it. Castillo can still compete but he is already past his prime. His last fight could attest to that.

I'm expecting Hatton to K.O. Castillo if Castillo shows up the way he did on his last fight.

Mayweather fought Castillo at a lighter weight and he fought him 6 years back, Castillo is no where near the same right now and Hatton is naturally bigger than him right now. It does'nt matter if Hatton TKO/KO's him now Castillo has been in some ring wars since the Mayweather fight which was years ago when Mayweather was moving up to Lightweight from Superfeatherweight, this is a different situation where Castillo who has been ring worn has moved from Lightweight to Light welterweight fighting naturally bigger guys than him and fighting the Ring 140 Champion Ricky Hatton while struggling with a no-namer before the castillo fight - Herman Ngoudo.

                      would wipe Hattons fringe off...
