PBF still needs validation in the eyes of the general public. Hatton is one of those fighters (and one of his easiest choices) who can provide that. He's an unbeaten name.
I'm not saying I love Hatton but if I were him I'd aim for every big name I could especially PBF. With 6 or so fights left to him, Witter would be a huge waste of time after a fairly poor year by his standards.
For any names (Cotto, Floyd, Mosley, DLH) Hatton is a great name to beat who looks vulnerable right now. I think Hatton needs to avoid meaningless fights with the Witters and N'dous of the world, take on some HOF fighters, win or lose in good battles and then retire.
Well I can see your point clearly and it makes sense. But I'm basing my stand on Hatton talking about him going down as an all time great. Do you seriously think he'll get that stature by avoiding somebody? (not necessarilly Witter)

Lewis is not undefeated dude, he has loses. But why do the guy gets so much respect? Because he fought the people he is suppose to fight and beat them all. A fight with Witter is not meaningless, it's a unification that can add feather to his head or a star in his shoulder.

PBF? He'll get a better chance at the guy if he's going to silence other fighters calling him out and unify the 140 belts and titles. PBF has never accomplished unifying belts in a division dude.

I want to see him take the big fights. People cant complain about him not making the fights with Maywhether, Cotto or DLH and then expect him to fight Witter.
Im not interested in seeing Hatton v Witter at all either.
