Witter to Hatton: Give Britain What it Wants

Many reasons why Ricky Hatton won’t fight WBC light welterweight champion Junior Witter have been offered, but his long-term rival is exposing them one by one. Two potential major obstacles, however, still remain: Ricky Hatton and time. [details]

Witter just like Collazo has what it takes to win over the over hyped Hatton. im sorry but Hatton has yet to impress me, while Witter has.

If Hatton is fine with facing Urango and Ndou then he should be fine with facing Witter.

Hatton is trying to give Britain what it wants. That is why he is after PBF.

I would LOVE to fight him. There’s been so much crap thrown about, not just from him, but from the people who say I’ve ducked him. He’s been calling me out all this time, but in a way I’ve shown him up by winning the title from a legend like Tszyu, whilst he’s looked beatable in his last few fights. If he could capture a title belt, then he’d bring something to the table. Right now I’m on a level where I’m fighting guys like Kostya Tszyu and Carlos Maussa, but he’s got to get to that level first. - Ricky Hatton

I think Witter is a more interesting fight than Maussa, Urango or N'Dou. Plus Witter has a belt now so there goes that reason but I guess he can go back to the old "dont wanna give him a payday" reason.

I dont think Witter would win but for the love of god I would like to see Hatton stop fighting tune-ups and worthless belt holders and start fighting some guys with some quantifiable ability.

This fight should DEFINITELY happen. It's a natural fight and clearly the only reason it's not happening is because of Hatton. The only way it's acceptable for this fight not to happen this year is if Hatton's next two fights are against JLC and then Mayweather or Cotto. I have a lot of respect for Hatton and have been very impressed with him. Unlike people who perhaps havent seen many Witter fights I have been much less impressed with Witter. Yes he was good against Corley and last time out, but he was lucky to get away with the win against Kotelnik, was crap against Lynes, and faded terribly against Ndou.

However, he is perhaps the strongest title holder in the light welter division and if Hatton doesnt fight Witter then there will always be question marks over whether Hatton was actually even the best light welter in Britain let alone the world.

I'd love to see Witter smash Hatton.

I remember reading that quote somewhere & thinking that Hatton now doesn't have an excuse not to fight Witter. I really believe Hatton doesn't want to fight Witter because Witter can exploit alot of Hatton's weaknesses.
