Pacquiao-Chi off, Pacman to fight in TX in April

MACAU and In Jin Chi will have to wait for Manny Pacquiao until later this year.

The much-hyped April 28 date with the Korean Chi at the Wynn’s Hotel and Casino in the former Portuguese colony, has been put off to a later date.

But Pacquiao will still fight in April, this time a week earlier on the 21st, in Texas, marking his return to the state where his career reached new heights.

Pacquiao started his rise as a future boxing Hall of Fame in Texas after he scored an 11th round TKO win over Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera in November 2004.

“We don’t know the reason of the cancellation of the Macau fight but we received communication from Bob Arum that Manny’s fight will be on April 21 in Texas,” Rex “Wakee” Salud told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

According to Salud, the Macau fight will still push through but it will be held later this year, probably by September or October.

“I still don’t have the name ( of Pacquaio’s opponent) yet, but what I was told is that he will be fighting against a South African,” said Salud.

Top Rank is aiming to attract the Filipino, Hispanic and other Asian market from Texas and nearby states with the fight, while Pacquiao is expected to start his training in the US in the middle of this month.

Freddie Roach will still train Pacquiao and possibly the Filipino ring icon will be training alongside Oscar De La Hoya in Puerto Rico. (RCM)

2 early to call pacman a legand, but he is on his way.
Guzman has the best chance of beating him, besides mab or jmm. Guzman just has to stay away from brawling and use his skill.
If the fight is in texas I see golden boy putting a fight card with rocky juarez makeing his return on the same night in texas. I'm sure rocky is a bigger draw in texas than pac would be.

I bet Paquiao feals dumb now for signing with Top Rank. I wonder if Aurum will keep his promise and still pay him as much money as he would of got for the Barrera fight.

This has potential to being a great card. Jorge Arce is rumored to be on this card as the Co-Main event.

With Barrera already set to fight, this is a good step for Manny. He'll be fighting on a card with a top Mexican fighter, in a very Pro Mexican crowd. A win here and a win for M.A.B should set up a super fight later this year.

Pac should fight Guzman, he can't fight MAB or JMM next because those two are fighting eachother next!
